I have noticed in the last two years that most teachers at Mariam Boyd are forcing the students to learn what is on the grade level but are not teaching them step by step. Making a child understand first is the first step in teaching. Yelling at students is not going to help them learn. Concerned Parent

I have gone to the school and dealt with the same issues and was extremely pleased with the results. My son now has the extra help he needs. If your not happy with the teacher, be pro-active and stand up for your child's rights. I have been extremely pleased with the school and their response to my concerns. As a result, my son is doing better and keeps improving. I have found that the separate groups for kids are for kids who are getting it and kids who aren t. Why should my son slow down yours because he needs more one on one?

Teachers have to realize that all students have weakness in some areas.

Teachers tend to group all students on a same level basis. I feel that all students should acquire help on a individual basis in some cases. All students have an weakness on some level. One may progress at top speed in reading and not excell in math or it could be vice-versa. However I do not feel that teachers look at students in this basis. Students are left behind or put in a category if they are not performing to expectation of the teacher not the NC school standards. This is my honest opinion.
