Strong academic standards, but very poor current leadership. Allows intimidating/bullying behavior to occur with little to no follow up. Current principle is very closed to suggestions for improvement or growth and tends to blame parents when issues are brought forward.

We really could not be more pleased with what The New Classical Academy offers. It has exceeded our expectations on so many different levels.

The New Classical Academy has exceeded any and all expectations I had. My child is absolutely thriving in this kind, intelligent, and nurturing environment. Very excited for the school to start its Pre-Kindergarten program so that my younger child can benefit, as well.

I love this school! My children really thrive here and the personal attention they get from the teachers is unparralled.

Flexible and creative learning environment with lots of outdoor time for running around and imaginative play. Promotes self-direction, exploration, and original thinking. Committed and passionate teachers. Some policy/procedure kinks still need to be worked out, but I believe this will happen in time. In any case, no place is perfect, and my kids absolutely love school.

Excellent teachers and very progressive pedagogy. Facilities need improvement and the leadership to make changes in that area.

A great school for self-motivated kids who are excited about learning and having fun. My daughter has been at the school for 4 years now, and is still excited every day about going to school, about learning new things, and being part of the NCA community. She refuses to go anywhere else, loves her teachers and has made wonderful friends of all ages.

The New Classical Academy has created an environment for my children to be happy, self actualized and academically challenged. I know my children are and will be well prepared for high school and beyond.

Happy children learning to love learning! What more could a parent want? Simply the best feeling I have ever had about a school anywhere...

We transferred our child mid-year to this school. She transitioned extremely well due to the attitude of the teachers and students at the school. She couldn't wait to go to school every day and she truly loved the environment where she was engaged and challenged in a number of different ways.

The first time I saw the school I almost turned around and drove away. What a huge mistake that would have been. While the facilities are bare bones (a temporary problem), the school itself has provided the best learning environment any of my three children have ever been in. We have experience with public schools (some of the best and worst in the country), private schools ('gifted' programs as well as religious) and even home schooling. Frankly, we were never really satisfied with the experiences they provided our children. At TNCA, we finely found what we were looking for. First and foremost, our child is very comfortable and well adjusted in the school. The concept of inclusiveness is practiced, not just preached. And he is academically challenged. I have no doubt he will be well prepared for college. How wonderful to have a child enjoy school, and enjoy learning.

Our daughter started at the school in September. She loves it, and I, possibly, love it more, because I'm aware of what she's getting that she almost certainly wouldn't get at other schools. She's learning at her own pace, though she doesn't realize it's her own pace, and so when she's in the mood she works hard at math and learning to read. When she needs more play, she can do that. Interacting with students of all ages has been great for her. It's been a terrific experience for all of us.

What a blessing to find TNCA! It has been a wonderful experience to see our son blossom at this school. He cannot wait for school days and even enjoys the work that he brings home. We enjoy all the interesting facts he shares with us as he learns about the Medieval times, states and capitals, rocks and minerals, the human body and much more! We cant wait for him to tell us all about World War II as he begins that journey into history as the new year begins. Thanks NCA for all you do for our children !

It all boils down to this: each and every child is cared for at TNCA.

My son is having a wonderful experience! We are extremely happy that we enrolled him there this year. His learning frustrations he had at his former school have all disappeared at TNCA. The teachers have worked very hard to find ways to connect learning strategies with the unique way my son's brain works! Very successfully!

The dedication to internal motivation at this school is impressive. My daughter is able to make choices about her education and it really has paid off. She chooses to do school work at home even when she doesn t have to . I feel that all her social, intellectual and emotional needs are met at this school.

There is such an atmosphere of caring, fun, hard work and cameraderie at this school. My daughter works really hard, but unlike other experiences we've had, she isn't just working to pass a test or gain someone's approval--she's really learning. It's also wonderful to see how beautifully the different ages work and play together. The younger kids seem to really love the older kids, and vice versa. It's so great to see the teens out there playing soccer with the younger kids, or seeing how happily they all greet each other in the mornings. I feel as if the kids are truly cared for at this school--what a gift!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

More from this school
  • Inside our multi-age classrooms, students work at their own pace, with the one-on-one support they need from teachers to meet age-appropriate standards, and the freedom to further pursue the topics that most engage them. This self-directed study is balanced with small group work and instruction as well as experiential activities, both within each classroom and school-wide, that help bring the curriculum to life: science experiments, theater, art projects, crafts, music, math games, and more. We spend at least a full hour outside every day for lunch and fun, and provide many additional opportunities for fresh air and creative play. The New Classical Academy offers a uniquely enriching educational experience and is truly a joyful place to watch students learn and grow.
