Evaluations that engage in hyperbole are bound to be somewhat inaccurate, and generalizations about the success of WCA's graduates and its caring faculty, though true, do little to get at the necessary facts. Fair evaluations always include concrete facts to support claims. First, WCA faculty members exhibit Christlike love. Parents and students are always encouraged to approach teachers not only with academic concerns but also with spiritual needs. Simply introduce yourself to a teacher and the warm reception you receive will be all the proof you need. WCA exists to assist! Second, WCA seeks total development of its students--spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. Numerous school programs and organizations--such as the American Christian Honor Society--provide students with opportunities to be well-rounded. Lastly, WCA's standardized test scores are well above the national average. Ask the school about test scores, and you will find the facts necessary for a fair and accurate evaluation. Come see us!
I am grateful for the opportunity my children (4) have to attend WCA. We are on our 10th year. It was very evident from the beginning that WCA strives for spiritual and academic excellence. The faculty and teachers goals are to care for, nourish and educate the students in ways that support and reaffirms the godly views we adopt at home. The atmosphere of the school is encouraging, loving, positive and promote self thinking necessary to foster future leadership. I will be the first to admit this is not a school for everyone, if you value disciplined, orderly, God centered education then WCA is the place to be.
My child went to this school for a year and a half. That relatively short period of time was enough to completely ruin her life. The teachers do not care about the students, the school itself encourages sports more than academics. My daughter said there was only one teacher there that really cared about the students, the rest couldn't care less. She was not challenged at all.
The student to teacher ratio is far too high which makes the teachers educate at one level (my youngest was not challenged, nor taught anything new for a year). Many of the teachers seemed burned out. If your child needs ANY kind of medical supervision (asthma, medications, diabetes, etc.) My (2) children had been in a previous christian private school and it was a positive experience, but WCA was far too rigid. Law without love.
With any school, there are problems, but I felt the good outweighed the bad. The teachers and work greatly helped me to prepare for college. I was surprised to find that there was little transition for me from high school to college. For that, I am very grateful. The values taught also helps build the students spiritually as well. The boys there were taught to me gentlemen, which spoiled me greatly outside of school, and the girls were taught to be modest with their attire. The staff was often over zealous with upholding the school rules, but this did help keep the students in line. Lastly, I was most impressed with the teachers and the principal. They really care about the students, and they want every student to succeed.
My children have attended WCA for 3 years. We are very pleased with the academic program. Though each teacher has their individual teaching method, the system is set up to accomadate children at their level of learning. Children that work at a slower pace are not rushed through their work, however are encouraged as to move forward. On that same note the children that work at faster or more advanced pace are note held back either and are encouraged as well. Parent involvement is very high and also encouraged. Wonderful academic and biblically inspired environment. WCA enhances adcademic, social and bible skills. WE highly recommend WCA.
