St. Mark offers a wonderful christ centered structured learning environment. The teachers and staff are caring. The enrichment programs are excellent. I would give this school a 5 stars other than the fact the we have moved to the 'CORE CURRICULUM ' , which I think is doing a disservice to all students in the country, both public and private. St. Marks is worth the money. They demand high parental involvement which in so important for the students.

Disappointing experience, especially for Middle School. The teachers are not the greatest, except for the Science teacher. The mothers who had the time and money ran the school, and they were plain and simply, materialistic snobs. They seemed to care more about school dances and planning lavish fund-raising events than in building a strong academic curriculum. Don't waste your money.

We have three children at St Mark's and our two oldest have been there for three years. The staff are dedicated professionals who care about the children and helping each child succeed. The new principal is terrific - very approachable and dedicated to making St Mark's an even better school.

St.Mark's is not a good place to send your children, the staff members and teachers are very nice but not the students that go there. It also costs to much, do not waste your money.

We researched several private schools in the area and are thrilled that we decided to go to St. Mark. Being new to the area, we were able to meet other families and feel very welcome at St. Mark. The teachers far exceeded our expectations and made moving to a new town and a new school an easy transition for our children.

I love St. Mark I went there 1-4th grade and its awesome. I learned so much and was fully prepared for middle school. Its hard work but its good and you get a lot out of it. I was also taught how to be a good person!

As being a middle school student at saint mark, i am overall very dissapointed in the middle school. The lower school is good, but the middle school needs major improvement. As being a seventh grader, our classes have had problems with verbal and physical bullying, and major behavioral issues. Also, many of the middle school teachers are cold, and do not open up to you and I dont think they are good teachers. All of these good reviews are probably from the lower school. Also, the principal is very cold, and allthough she says all these "good" things are comming to the school, and is posting them publicly, nothing has been done. And, if you try to talk to her about something, she doesnt do anything about it. If you are looking at this school to send your child to, please, DO NOT send your child here. I have been dissapionted from the moment I came into the middle school, and i would give this school a zero oout of five stars, but you can't do that so i will cut them some slack and give them one star. :)

Because they are self supporting, have high standards, can combine both religious and educational values. Students achieve goals established for public as well as private schools set by testing.

My husband and I researched many schools in the area for our children, and decided on St. Mark after reviewing their academics, national test scores, and class observations. Our children have been at St. Mark for a couple of years, and it has far exceeded our expectations! The children are in a safe environment. They are taught respect and moral values! You WON'T find that in a public school these days. We feel so blessed to be a part of this school. Now, if they would only build a Catholic High School...

I have two children at the school for the past five years, and am very happy with the school. It has a small community atmosphere that has helped my children to thrive academically and spiritually. My oldest child was just invitied to Duke Tips which I feel is a great academic achievement. Still, most teachers weave different community service projects into the curriculumn each month helping the students to grow into true citizens, not jsut kids who get in college or get a job. I also think we may have the 2 best kindergarden teachers in the county so if you are skeptical about your public school it really is worth a try for that age alone.

I have two children at this school. The environment is academically rigorous, but balanced with technology, art and athletics. Although I am not Catholic, I appreciate the sense of social justice and caring for others that is developed. Religion is integrated into many aspects of education and the children attend mass weekly. Kindergarten is FANTASTIC. The kids are loved, have a lot of fun and learn a lot. My older child is in middle school, while the academics are challenging the social environment is laid back and caring.

I think overall the education is pretty positive, most teachers are good and fair to students. There are a few that could be weeded out. Leadership there could be improved upon. There are excellent parent volunteers, but behavior problems do exist within the classroom.

i agree with the turn around and need for competent administration that treats all children with the same demeanor. One that teachers will respect and bring innovative learning. One that will give a couple of warnings to bulliies and verbal harrasment to be eliminated from school.

I currently have two children that go to St. Mark School. We have been there since it first opened up 6 years ago. Yes, the school has gone through some changes and a few growing pains. And there were a few parents that wanted to have things run their way. But, with that being said, St. Mark Catholic School is hands down the BEST school in Wilmington academically by providing abroad Curriculum (technology, art, music in addition to there core academic classes) all in a very safe and personal environment. All of the teachers are there because they want to teach your children and not because they have too. St. Mark has competed at regional and state level in several areas from math to science to essay writing. They are a strong school with and outstanding Principal for a leader.

This school is the best private school in the Wilmington area. The children are safe and have a broad base of educational subjects, including foreign language and technology skills. The teachers are highly qualified and care about the students. The principal is always available for her students and parents showing genuine support and care in her role. She is fair and impartial to all. The academics and behavior policy are superior. They have also implemented many after school activities and sports.

I now have two children at St. Mark and they are thriving academically and socially. We transferred here from another school last year and the teachers and staff were very helpful with our move. They made our entire family feel welcome. I cannot say enough about the education my children are receiving. They are testing at the highest percentiles and growing spiritually at the same time. What a wonderful place to entrust my most precious gifts from God!

St. Mark has far exceeded my expectations! My child took the SATs in 7th grade and scored 65% better than high school seniors! They must be doing something right! The teachers turn the students into leaders, especially in the Middle School! It's a place where moral standards are set and expected to be followed - unfortunatley you won't find that in public schools these days. The teachers expect a lot from their students, and get a lot in return It's a very caring and supportive atmosphere. My children are happy, excelling academically, and are in a safe environment.

After reading the other posts, I wonder if there are 2 St. Mark Schools in Wilmington NC. We transfered out earlier this school year due to severe lacking of leadership and availabilty by the administration. The teachers are great but they have no support from administration and parents run the school not the princial no matter how much she proclaims it her school, now that we are out, we have found it has a local reputaion as a country club. I'm thankful we didn't stay and am sorry for the enviornment the children who have still there face. At a recent lunch of former St. Mark Moms, we all reported all kids were happier in theri new schools, public and private. Please do intense research before subjecting your child to this.

St. Mark School has given my child an exceptional experience so far. You have a principal, teachers and staff who know every child by name and who create a very warm, safe environment for education. Walking through the hallways, you notice that the children are engaged, the teachers are actively teaching and behavior issues are minimal. Moral development is as important as academic development here. Watching the students as they attend weekly mass, you get a wonderful sense of the community we have at St. Mark School. The academics are high with excellent test scores, there are many after school sports and activities. Just an overall great school!

I currently have two children enrolled at St. Mark. My oldest has attended St. Mark since it's inception and I now have one in Kindergarten. Academically, our family is very pleased. St. Mark has been a place where we feel that our children are safe while attend school. The teachers show concern and the principal is always available whenever I have had questions that needed answers.

I have three children at St. Mark School. We came here the first year the school opened. I had my children at the top public school for two years and was very frustrated. It offered a great sence of community but academically was only teaching to the testing. Starting a new school was difficult. We did not have our own personality yet. We are now in our sixth year and the school keeps getting better. Our principal is relentless and believes in the motto, 'Good, better, best, never let it rest'. They place a lot of emphasis on technology, proper research skills, character development, Christian values and overall academic excellence. The teachers are kind and dedicated. Being there from the beginning, I take pride in where the school is today. I rate it 4.5.

We love St. Mark Catholic. We have 2 children; one recently graduated from St. Mark, the other is still at St. Mark. There is a true community atmosphere at the school. We feel that St. Mark prepared our older child both academically and morally for high school. One of the most beautiful things I see happening at the school is the way the teachers work together. The art teacher reinforces curriculum as does the media specialist and music teacher. The children take Spanish and technology from K - 8. There are daily religion classes and Mass once a week in which each class takes turns participating. What a wonderful experience it must be for a child to do a reading, at Mass, in front of his or her peers. We can t say enough good things about this wonderful school.

Each year families who are supportive both financially and in volunteer hours leave in frustration. Each year we have become more and more saddened with the principal's lack of communication. The teachers try their best but without support and communication from her, they are fighting a losing battle. High turn over restricts familiarity for both the staff and students.

St Mark's Catholic School seems to be nailing the education part, but is lacking in fun and extracurricular activities. It never felt warm, it never felt like the teachers or principal cared about me. I was bored, not having the same, adventurous experience as i do now in highschool.

My children have had a wonderful experience at St. Mark. The students receive a lot of individualized attention and the school provides a solid academic experience. The teachers and staff that we have encountered are very warm and caring. The school is very safe and nurturing. Parent involvement is very high. There is a feeling of genuine community at St. Mark.

I currently have two children at this school and we all have mixed feelings regarding quality of education and learning environment. On one hand, my children feel secure in their classes and are happy to be there most of the time. On the other hand, they complain about lack of recess, freedom to voice their opinions, censorship, lack of arts education and the way their principal controls everything. My younger child is extremely gifted but we have had little to no recognition from the school about success. (Other than a Duke TIP invite) The younger child's teachers are also quite cold and rude to children and to us. The older child's teachers cannot say enough good things. The older child's teachers are friendly and warm. The school has mandatory religion class and mass. We are considering another private school next year.
