This school is excellent. The teachers and principal are hard working and caring. The academic programs are extremely challenging-- the kids work really hard and a lot is expected of them. We couldn't be happier with our children attending New Hope Elementary. I can't think of any negatives.

New Hope Elementary is blooming under principal, Mrs. Bullock's leadership. I have no idea why our great school rating is so low. For 2009-2010, New Hope was named a School of Distinction with over 85% of the students meetings on or above grade level. My children have been supported wonderfully by the teachers and staff. The PTO is outstanding and works very hard to supply the school with whatever "extras" are needed. In this economy, those extras have become essentials, but the PTO has always risen to the challenge to meet those increasing needs.

My son is in first grade at this school. I am not going to say it is perfect and that I have no complaints, however, the current principal that has been there for a year and a half is fantastic. He handles himself very professionally in every situation I've seen him in so far. He shows a genuine interest in the children and remembers them ALL by first name. He runs a very well organized school. So far I have been pleased with his teachers. There's always room for improvement but I feel comfortable putting him in their care for the day. This county does expect a lot out of kindergarten and first graders. He is doing things for homework that I don't remember having until around second, possibly third grade. This is probably my biggest complaint but that is not the school's decision, it's the county's.

I am amazed by the other reviews of New Hope School! Could these folks possibly be talking about the same place? Every teacher at New Hope School has and continually attends numerous staff development opportunities to be informed of the state curriculum and the latest innovations in education. As the curriculum changes there are of course questions that need to be researched. Check the school's website to see that ALL teachers at this school plan ALL of their lessons by the Standard Course of Study. The Open Door Policy has changed in a positive manner to protect instructional time from excessive interruptions. There is always room for improvement at any school including New Hope but this a top-notch place of learning. The dedication of the entire staff is phenomenal! I am proud to be a parent and a teacher at New Hope School!

New Hope has fallen down in the last few years. Teachers are not as up to date on the info requried by the state. The open door policy that NH has had in the past seemed to close this year right after Christmas. I really think that it is sad that this school is chnagin the way that it is.

Overall we have had an ok experience at this school. The principal is not as supportive of the parents as I would like to see. She will be the first to tell you that 'bad things never happen when she is in the classrooms.' Go Figure.. of course not. The school has an overcrowding problem. The wilson county schools reguire alot of kindergartners. Most of them are ready but some are just not. My fourth grader is an A student and is easily overlooked because he is quiet and does what he is asked to with out a fuss. The academically gifted program leaves much to be desired although the teacher is awesome. If choosing a school in Wilson I would take a good look at the two other highly rated options before settling on New Hope.
