I am very prud that we are able to send our daughters to this amazing school. They won the Blue Ribbon School Of Excellence award this year. This school has dedicated teachers and staff that care for all the children.
We chose Our Lady of Mercy School, years ago, because of it's superb education and family atmosphere.
We moved to the area 4 years ago and OLM was our first step in joining the community. Not only are our three children challenged academically, OLM also challenges our children to see their place in the world and contribute to the world. As parents, we enjoy hearing compliments from other parents on our children's behavior, behavior that is expected of them not only at home but also at school. Our oldest child only has one more year at OLM before high school, and we're already sad for the departure. OLM distinguishes itself not only for the care and nurturing of our children, but also for the feeling of family that extends to the OLM parent community. We enjoy volunteering in the classroom, on the sporting fields, and anywhere we're needed because we feel part of the OLM family.
My child transferred in this year for seventh grade; they've helped her to develop a better work ethic and a greater interest in participating in school activities. Her grades have risen and her belief in her own ability to do well has as well.
We currently have four children attending OLM (grades 7, 5, 2, and K) and have been very impressed with all aspects of this school. There is a teacher and an assistant in every classroom allowing for more individualized attention to each student s needs. The volunteerism witnessed from other parents has been especially amazing. Our fifth child will begin their new preschool program next year. We are looking forward to another 10 years as a Mercy family!
I have not only worked at OLM for 8 years, I have 4 children who have gone through. When my last finishes the 8th grade next year I will have had a child at OLM for 16 straight years. Need I say more? The educational, moral, religious, and athletic learning that takes place here is fantastic!
My youngest son transferred to Our Lady of Mercy half way through first grade. When we moved to the area OLM was actually our third choice--two other private schools in town didn't have room for him. Now he is a rising 8th grader. He has been nurtured, encouraged and challenged at Our Lady of Mercy School. Parental participation, which is so essential for school success, is outstanding. His academic achievement and self esteem are excellent. We feel lucky to have found OLM!
I am a former student of Mercy and now a parent of two Mercy students. OLM is truly the only place that I want my children to be! The over whelming majority of my favorite childhood memories involve this school. From playing sports to going on feild trips (especially the Little Theater and Old Salem), School dances, and fund raiser events - the list goes on and on. OLM is truly more than a school it is my second family and part of my family tree! I can't tell you how awesome it is to watch my kids build that same foundation of education, discipline, morality, confidence, character, and true self worth in the same place as I did. If you think this is a little too good to be true. Go talk to the staff, talk to the kids, and chat with the parents some time - you'll
My daughters were students at OLM for one year as we were living in North Carolina temporarily. Words cannot describe the OLM spirit. It is something you feel as soon as you enter the school. Sister Geri, her staff, the parents, coaches, and students genuinely care about each other, the community, and the world. The academic program is excellent. We no longer live in North Carolina but what we miss the most is OLM. My daughters have such great memories of OLM. I think that says volumes. If you are relocating to NC and are looking for a school where your children will be accepted, challenged, and happy, enroll them in OLM.
My daughters learned more in their elementary years at OLM than they did in 4 years of public high school in Winston Salem. Wonderful administration and staff.
The way education should be! Each child is part of the school community and faculty and staff know each by name - regardless of their grade. The quality of education is fantastic. Parent involvement is very good. I wouldn't have my child attend school anywhere else.
I have been involved in Our Lady of Mercy 1995 and an active parent of two since 1997. I could not be happier with the school, its teachers, Sr. Geri (the current Principal), coaches and parents. Mercy has taught my children more than just mathematics and writing skills. They have taught them to be wonderful people, to think about other besides themselves, to give when can and to love everyday. Mercy opens its arms to welcome any faith, any race or any financial status. Children are respected and loved by each and every member that walks thru its halls. The Spirit that resides within the walls of Our Lady of Mercy is so powerful one cannot leave it behind. This will be my last year as a Mercy parent, but I hope it will not be my last as a volunteer. It is a family you will never want to leave. Jennifer Guidry
I have never been more pleased with a school!!! We went looking for a new school - attended the open house, met with the new principal, Sister Geri, and other students. Our experiences have been filled with great communication and a overall wonderful learning environment for our daughter. The teachers there are some of the best I have every dealt with!!!
We have had two children in this school and been involved since 1992. OLM offers the best of all educational experiences! The teachers are really willing to help the students LEARN not recite. The school is really a family and everyone is encouraged to be the very best that they can be. I would strongly encourage any parent looking for the optimum educational experience in Winston-Salem to consider this school. Visit it,listen to the children, talk to them. All of that is what makes the school so special.
I am a former student of Our lady of Mercy. I was so sad to leave after 5th grade. OLM changed my life in so many ways. I most liked the friendly atmosphere.
