My third child is now attending Bennett. Our entire family loves Bennett and feels very "at home" there. The teachers have been fabulous and go the extra mile. The school is very clean and well kept. The playgrounds are safe and in great condition. The Bennett PTA is very active and has many programs for children. We are VERY HAPPY to be at Bennett.
3 of my boys have attended Bennett and they have all enjoyed it. I feel that they have received excellent education, and I have been especially appreciateive of the extyra reading help 2 of them got during their first couple of years. It made all the difference in the world. They did an excellent job of working with their IEP plans. The teachers and staff have been friendly.
Bennett is a good school with a lot to offer. It is not, however, in my opinion a great school. Bennett's staff is busy with a large and full school, and children are not considered as individuals. They are grouped, and given very little individual attention. Over the course of my 4 children's educations they have been to 3 schools, and Bennett has been the worst at making them feel welcome and comfortable, and the staff has not made the effort to identify their skills and weaknesses. One example of a negative experience: I asked the principal & the classroom teacher for some information and never recieved it. The truth is, no one is going to take care of your child at Bennett, beyond standard protocol, especially if you want your child challenged.
Bennett is a very active school - the PTA plans events throughout the school year for students and their families. They also bring in several extra programs (such as foreign languages) which students can take advantage of. Academically, the school is excellent. Test scores are among the best in the city. Teachers really seem to care about the students and want to see them succeed in all studies. Bennett offers music, art, physical education and computer classes which is not always available in schools. I would highly recommend the school to anyone moving into the area.
