Kindred Public School is one of the greatest schools in ND, they have some of the best testing scores in ND and have great teachers that would be willing to toutor your child after school without question. They also are in a class by themselves when it comes to technolgy in every classroom, I am currently a high school student at Kindred, and can honestly say that by 2nd grade I was learning the basics of computers almost every day. They also have 3-5 computers IN EVERY ROOM that are no more than 3 years old, and a computer 2 computer labs that have state of the art computers. And if you're woundering about extra corricular activities, here are some of Kindred accomplishments this year: State 3rd place- GBB Region 1 runner up- BBB ND state Champs- FCCLA ND State Champs- FFA livestock Judgeing ND State Champs- LifeSmarts
I have two children in Kindred Elementary. One is a top student who is receiving a great education and I couldn't be happier. The other is in special ed. classes and is being pushed to try to keep up so he doesn't get 'left behind'. I can testify to the fact that the teachers are working their hardest to try to ensure that he is keeping up with his class. But the truth is, he needs more individualized help. I help as much as possible, but I can only do so much without doing the work for him. I wish the teachers could make a few exceptions to the rule for the slower learners so that they truly don't get 'left behind'. He's further behind now with all the 'help' than he was before they put him in special education class.
'The 'no-child' left behind' presidential goal gets an e for effort by the special ed teachers, but the speed of the curriculum often leaves those students behind who's understanding do not move as quickly as the curriculum. Those students would benefit from 1/8th-1/16th the class sizes and individual attention. So often the parents and special ed teachers push the children ahead by helping with the work and reading for the student to keep them current but the student never grasps what is presented to him. You can blame the child if you'd like...(too lazy, unmotivated, bad attitude, etc.) but children presented with the right learning atmosphere do provingly excel. It would be easier if all children could adapt to one set curriculum but that mentality only leads to drop-outs or simply 'getting by' until school is completed. I feel this is what happens in the Kindred Middle School and High School.
