The leadership in place at the school is totalitarian and authoritarian. Children have a difficult time reaching their potential when they have to endure character attacks by the principal. My child was told he would never amount to anything. The teachers are fantastic but the school climate based on the leadership is counterproductive to democratic ideology and growth.
Northwood is the only school within the Grand Forks area to be rated in the top 100 public schools in the United States by a major educational magazine. It also is a state of the art building, and has fantastic facilities. I have the choice to send my kids to four different schools, and I am sending them there.
Northwood Public School is planning a $1.8 million dollar building project this summer. An updated computer room, modern library, additional classrooms, and a new kitchen with enlarged dining room will be added to the existing school. This project will be beneficial to the current students and future students. The teachers and administration work well together as can be noticed at the school board meetings.
