I went to this school for all 9 years and it was the worst school you could ever send your children to! It is full of mean spirited children that enjoy picking on people, spreading rumors and laughing at eachother. The parents are rude, the teachers have no idea what they are doing. Please please please don't send your child here! They deserve better!
My wife and her 4 siblings attended all 9 years of school at St. Sebastian. Our daughter has be there since kindergarten and we love everything about the school and the community surrounding it. We are very involved in school and parish activities. We reccomend this school and parish to everyone.
This school is excellent. We sent our child to The Goddard School (also excellent!) for preschool, and they're well prepared for kindergarten but the bottom line is this: If you care enough that you're willing to pay for your child's private education over a public experience then most likely you're going to be involved in their educational experience and ensure that this is right for them. In case your child needs special attention, please keep in mind that private schools aren't as well equipped for special education situations due to lack of state and federal funds. In short, this school is among the best private school values in NE Ohio! (compare to the ridiculous $35k/yr tuition of some private tuitions!).
My son is in the 2nd grade and has been attending St. Sebastian since Pre-K. He loves his school and his classmates. The tutoring he has received for reading and math have made a huge difference in his performance. Parent participation is outstanding, and we have found the school to have a very close-nit family atmosphere.
We are new to the school and we came from another Catholic school in Cuyahoga county. The teachers are very good. The parents aren't that frienly and the kids are not welcoming my child has had a hard time this year, being new. Changing schools is hard in the 5th grade but these kids are not very open to new people. I had heard that the kids were friendly and I haven't seen it yet.
Money talks at this school. The bullying is horrible and nothing much is done. My son has learning problems and getting help is next to impossible. My daughter who is a excellent student has done well at this school.
This school is excellent. Parent participation and teachers who care make the difference. Strong academic curriculum, a variety of clubs and organizations, great athletic programs with strong parent participation, and a religion program that stresses Christian values (that results in graduates having a great moral-center) I have 2 children that graduated from St Sebastians that have gone on to HS and College and been achievers. I owe a good eal of the credit to St Sebastian's.
This school is excellent for children who are solidly in the middle, with no need for tutoring or help. I have two children at St. Sebastian. My oldest child does well, and a St. Sebastian education for her has been perfectly adequate. My youngest child has had many issues with reading, and St. Sebastian has done a very poor job providing the extra help he needs to be successful.
I have 2 children at St. Sebastian one is in 5th grade and the other in 7th grade. I have been very happy with our experience at St. Sebastian and I think it is one of the best schools in summit county. I also have 1 child who attends Archbishop Hoban and the other attending Walsh Jesuit. I feel that they were both very prepared by St. Sebastian for highschool. I think that anyone who is looking at Akron private schools should consider looking at St.Sebastian!
My children have been going to St. Sebastian for ten years. My daughter is an alumna, my son is in the 7th grade. The principal is an excellent leader, and the teachers are truly dedicated. My children each have very different skills and the teachers brought out the best in each of them. The school just keeps getting better every year. We couldn't be happier with St. Sebastian.
