Both my daughters attend AMS and have very different personalities and needs. Despite their differences, AMS is able to address their specific needs. This school is by far top notch compared to so many other programs. They are aware of each child's level and focus on challenging the unique capabilities of the child based on his/her individual potential. They are attentive, responsive and proactive. The program has been very rewarding.
My son has attended the elementary school now in second grade. This by far is the most advanced academically school in Akron. Teacher ratio is like 5 to 1 unheard of. The Owner and his wife are very dedicated and brilliant. Very pleasant place. I'm so blessed to have found it.
Our daughter attended AMS from toddlerhood through kindergarten and we absolutely loved our experience with this school.Academically, I feel that the children are way ahead of their peers in public/other private schools - lots of emphasis on geography and maps...art isn't a structured art class but I feel that there were plenty of opportunities for artistic expression, and my daughter is artsy. Music instruction was excellent and encouraged outside of school, too. Parental involvement was excellent. If class sizes were larger in the elementary grades we would still be there today! Our son will be attending for preschool and kindergarten soon, too. great school...we love AMS
This school has a very good Pre-K and Kindergarten program; the teachers are Montessori trained and have a good relationship with the kids. The school is the most multicultural in the area, and the children are almost uniformly doing first-grade level work in reading and math by the middle of their Kindergarten year. There is a good music program, but little to no art, and little to no structured physical education. The school needs to improve greatly in administration and communication with parents; there is no staff dedicated solely to administration, and this is a source of great frustration to many parents, most of whom would be willing to help out if asked. The parent association is active. In short, this is a 'mom and pop' Montessori school, with all of the advantages and disadvantages that such an approach brings. With some basic improvements, this school could excellent.
