I agree with the last 2 reviews. They are very acurate. This school really is out of touch. We can't believe what takes place at this school. Poor leadership, lack of communication, and poor teacher quality. We can only hope all Amherst schools are not run like this. We will definitely be withdrawing our kids if they are.

Their staff needs more training on being there for the students. I don't feel this school goes above and beyond what they are required..It's suppose to be all about the kids and doing whatever it takes to meet each child's need.I don't get that feeling from them at all. It seems like kids who have IEP's get all the attention.Probably because they are required by law to meet their needs. The rest of the kids are expected to be cookie cutter down the middle and they don't differentiate their instruction. They are not very warm or welcoming. They say they have an open door policy but they don't make you feel that way.I almost feel like my child is in a prison with very little access to him. They do not have much parent involvement at all. These are still little kids who need lots of love, affection and understanding. The principal doesn't take time to get to know the kids or the parents.I feel she is retired on duty!!Unfortunately I think her unprofessional attitude trickles down to the teachers. She definitely does not know how to run her ship. I have been in a few districts and this is one of the worst.Their great report card comes from outstanding parents. Not an outstanding school.

unbelievable that a school like this can exist with a good state report card. the staff and principal need to learn more about their students and family. more family involvement is needed. more friendly, welcoming, faces. these are little children who need care and love. not crabby old people going through the routine. consider who each child is and meet their needs. it doesn't take a "program" to do this. just caring individuals who are willing to go above and beyond. it should be all about the children and it's not. the homework coming home for first grade is preschool work. know your students. it's time to update the curriculum. the principal is really out of touch. more involvement on her part is needed!!!! more training, etc.
