Saybrook Elementary School5

I myself went to Saybrook, and now that I am grown up and have a child I will be sending my child to Saybrook. I think that some people get offended when their child comes home with 4th grade work and they are in 6th grade because they think that their child is smarter than they, but I know that I was struggling with math and they helped me, by starting with that lower level math and go up from there. It is just a matter of time and effort. I love this school.
My daughter goes to Saybrook, and she will be there all the way until middle school. She learns so much in just 1 day. The principals leadership is outstanding, while the teachers help her every step of the way, just like they do all of the other children who go to wonderful Saybrook Elementary.
I feel this school is one of the worst schools I have seen or my child has attended. They send homework home that blows my mind I am talking about 6th graders doing 4th grade level work. This should NOT be for any grades above 4th maybe 5th. I will never send my youngest there when she is ready for school, I will drive 20 minutes to madison where I know she will get an actual education.
My daughter is in Kindergarten this year. She has a wonderful teacher and everyone that I have met at this school so far seems great. I believe that as a parent you must be involved in your childs school and when you are you get the opportunity to see all of the great things that the other parents and teachers are doing for these kids.
The teachers at this school need to earn respect by the way they dress and treat the children. My first impression of the teachers is that they have no dress code, yet the students do. When I went to school, the teachers earned respect by the way they dressed and represented themselves. I do not see this at Saybrook. I have even witnessed female teacher wearing mini skirts. And nylons should be a must. It is very poor judgement for a female teacher to expose her bare legs in a skirt or dress. The principal is always dressed professionally, however, she does not demand the same of the teachers.
My youngest child is in the third grade at Saybrook. I have had children in this school for seven years. Over those seven years this school has declined in a rappid pace. My sons teacher is not in the classroom at least an average ofonce a week since the begining of the school year. This distric focuses on dress codes and facualty socialization more than educating the student body. When concerns or suggestions are brought up the attitude is on the defense, the reply insinuates 'If you can do a better job, become a teacher.' All of the parents have gone through grade school system, maybe, educating has become an ordinary job to most of the educators out there. They need to realize the responsiabilty they have taken on and produce or do go and get an 'ordinary' job.
This schools academic programs are of low quality, the school is in academic supervision. This school has consistantly scored well below state requirements. Discipline is not properly and consistantly enforced. Teachers do not fully explain the circulum to the students or parents. My son's fourth grade teacher is proforming an animal experiment that puts the health of the animal at risk, when confronted with this issue by us the principal and teacher where highly condescending and dismissive of veternary information we presented. I would recomend that all parents highly monitor this school and do what you can to keep your child from it!
