I love this school!~ I graduated from here '98 and I am excited that my children will be doing the smae. All of the teachers are great and they really get to know each child on an individual basis. The staff are great and never hesitate to offer their help!
I three wonderful children that attend Liberty Elementary School. My daughter, who is now in fifth grade, attended Caledonia school before it moved and became Liberty. We have since moved into a different school district; however, I have opted to open-enroll my children so that they can continue their education at Liberty. My oldest daughter has been involved in the Battle of the Bands. My second daughter had difficulty reading in Kindergarten, and the teachers put her in a reading class right away. Between the help of the teacher and tips that they gave me to aid in her reading, I went from having a child with a learning disability to a daughter who loves to read. They got her the help she needed right away and did not fall behind. My youngest son is now in kindergarten and is not absorbing information; he is already receiving help for his reading.
I have had 4 children in the River Valley district. All of my children have had a positive experience at River Valley. I have not had any problems with the staff. They are always ready to talk to you and share insight. My youngest is currently in the 5th grade and has not had any problems at school. She is getting a good education and loves school. I have a son who had AHD and although I think teachers are to quick to want to medicate children I can also understand how difficult it can be to try to teach when you have constant disruption. My son was unable to take any medication so the staff and his teachers worked with me to get him on the right path. He is now an adult and a productive member of the community. River Valley isn't perfect but I would recomend it.
Extremely poor. We fought for my special needs son from K-4th grade. They treated all the kids with a 'gotta show these kids who's boss' attitude. They use detention & suspension for minor offenses, belittle & yell at kids in the hall or office in front of other staff, children & parents. They blame parents for their child's behavior, even if it is directly related to a disorder. Certain staff have actually told reliable sources 'We don't want the parents around. We just want to do our jobs.' After consulting an attorney because the school was just not providing an appropriate education for my son, the school's attorney actually told our attorney that 'The parents are irrational'. Our attorney said that he was extremely rude. We decided to move out of Marion Co. What a diffence! If your child is rich, wealthy, or 'someone important' RV is ok. If not, good luck to you!
