My son just started attending Campbell Elementary this year. He has been an honor student all year. There have been many extra activities he has participated in all year. He is constantly talking about how involved the principle is on a daily basis. His teachers and I are able to communicate on a daily basis through his planner or his weekly graded papers folder. So far this has been a good school.
Failing in the no child left behind law. Half way through the year K is still working on learning the ABC's!!!! My child knew this starting school and is now bored, I will be pulling him out and sending him to private school as of the 1st of the year. While the private schools are a little pricey in the area it the best investment for your child's future.
The school is great! I do feel that Dr. Walls does a great job with the students and kids. I also feel that some of the teachers could handle situations with the students better than they do. All in all i like the school...and wish that they would have some after school activities for the kids to attend.
I think the school is ok and could improve in certain areas such as comunacation with paerents and students.
The school is great but the principal of the elementary school is terrible. He does not listen to the children only the teachers. He needs to follow the rules and care about the kids and not himself.
I totally agree with the parent review May 22, 2007. The same problems exist in 2009. The website is very stone aged. There are no new additions such as newsletters, student activities. They need more emphasis on the help for those students who have the potential but just need an extra push towards improving their grades. It does not come easy to ever child.
These schools have had a rough go over it over the years; however, with Dr. Walls the school is making a lot of progress and encouraging a lot of parental involvement.
I have not been pleased with the quality of education my children receive from Campbell School districts. I believe too much emphasis is placed on children with behavioral problems. There is poor communication with the teachers. They tend to 'store' up issues with the children and have this 'laundry' list when they are asked for accountability. There are no after-school programs and it is too much emphasis on sports. There are no Art programs, Spelling competitions, and music. There statewide test scores are horrific. There is no diversity within the teaching staff. I am very disappointed that this is what my tax dollars are paying for. The Principal is absolutely ineffective.
I am very pleased with the extra added attention to the gifted program in the school. My children have benfitted from the one on one teaching to develop other areas of learning. They enjoy going to school and seem to be exelling. However I would like to see more attention on music and art for children to express them selves artisticlly. I would like to see more school programs such as a Science fair, music concerts ect. The brhavior of students is bit out of control and if not put into perspective or made to be a priority will hurt the school in the long run. I do like the fact that children have to wear uniforms ans feel the school does it's best to have a very dafe environment condusive for learning. I would like to see more effort in enforcing the proof of residency more effectivelly. Tahnk You
The school has a poor rating due to the teachers and leadership my children got in a 9 month school period. Certian issues were not addressed as they should of been and the teachers act more childish then some of the 1st graders. The school and city milk you out of tax dollars and there is nothing to show for any of it!
