Canfield High School

This public high school claims to be one of the top 25 in the state of Ohio. But, beware! It is not a competitive college prep high school. In other words, this high school is not even aware of how to track high performing kids into the SAT with SAT subject test and AP classes with AP tests. They are not even aware that competitive students need to focus on these areas not the OGT or ACT. Can you say 20 years behind?

Canfield High School is an extremely good school. Our college prep classes are around the difficulty of other school's advanced classes which I know will help me so much in life. My biggest complaint with Canfield High School is that if your excel at sports, you get so much recognition, which is great, however, I am involved in other activities and have gone to state competitions for non-sport activites (all of them have been through the school) and did very well, but have never gotten any recognition. This school needs to recognize everyone for their accomplishments, or not recognize anyone. To Canfield High School, if you don't do sports, you didn't accomplish anything apparently, and all your hard work has gone to waste.

Canfield has a long tradition of being a great school system. Currently ranked in the top 15 state systems. The parents are very involved and the students are very competitive. My children found college to be relatively easy after the education they received here. However, be prepared to compete on every level here... academically, athletically and financially. Some students in the high school get lost in the shuffle.
