We were extremely disappointed in Bell-Heron. First, the bullying is a huge problem. I had to pull my child out of the school because of it. These kids are mean! Next, the school is way overcrowded. I would hate to see what would happen if a real emergency were to occur. Lastly, the "outside" time...watching these kids walk in circles over and over again is not my idea of exercise, very sad. This school needs a complete makeover, severe punishment for the bully problem, and an awareness on behalf of the staff of the situation they seem to be completely blind to.

My daughter was severely bullied, lied and wasn't told about anything until the minute of. Most of the kids my daughter hung out with were nice, but until one got in trouble with the law, I had to pull her out. They have a horrible bully problem, but great teachers. I do like the teachers, but the secretary is not the best. She's been there since my other daughter and son went here. Building is really, really small and there is A LOT of kids there. Could use a new building.

I love the gifted program in which my daughter participates. She particularly loves her American Sign Language class and the Future Problem Solving team competitions.

The teachers, students, and curriculum are great. I feel very comfortable sending my child to school everyday. I know he will be safe.

The Bell Herron is a school with great teachers, but the building is falling apart.That lost it a star.

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests

Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
