Chillicothe High School has had a tremendous influence on my life and made me the person that I am today. The faculty/staff provided exceptional instruction and guidance throughout my four years there. The build great relationship's with the students and really showed interest in our futures. The Principal (Jeff Fisher) is also a huge part of my success in my life after high school. Not only did I have him as a teacher but I also go to experience his early years as principal. There is not one individual out there that cares more about the students and their success during and after high school. There's not one thing he wouldn't do to help a student. I can honestly say that the opportunities that I had at CHS molded me into a person well capable of going out into the world.

Employed in the district from 2006-2012, I feel qualified to address some of the concerns that previous posts discussed. Yes, it's true that there were times that there were too many student altercations, a few (very few) unproductive staff members, and there may have been some issues with discipline. However, much has changed since many of these concerns were voiced. The school system now has stronger leadership, and has changed for the better. The number of disciplinary actions dropped so drastically that the principal Mr. Fisher, discussed in a previous thread, was asked to present his methods for ODE. The level of accountability has been raised for staff and students alike. Teachers not performing well have been remediated, and have improved, or were dismissed from their position. There are good things happening in CCSD. Visit the school, drive around the community, and learn what it means to be a Cavalier!

This is a school that cares for its students. I have seen teachers and administrators purchase clothing, food, and pay school fees for students in need. I have witnessed staff members give of their time to tutor students after school, cheer them on at extra-curricular events, and provide support in difficult times. This is a great school and no test scores or reviews will ever do it justice. Do yourself, and your children a favor and visit this school for yourself, you will be glad you did.

I could not say this is the best school in US. but it is the best school in Ross county. We have a lot of AP courses, students activity club, board casting program, and this is the only one school district offering Chinese class. We have a lot of good teachers and students here, the only thing I think school need improve is teaching students more academic /school culture and follow the school rule.

Chillicothe High School is academically challenging for which many of their seniors receive university scholarships. I strongly recommend Chillicothe City Schools to parents who want their children to succeed academically.

We moved to Chillicothe from out of state and chose CHS based on the programs and curriculum. We have three children attending CHS this year, and will have 4 attending next year. We have been very happy with the school. The principal is very visible and actively involved in all aspects of the school. The couselor has been excellent in working with our kids and the transition. Our kids have been challenged in the classroom (which was a concern since all are highest honor roll students), and have many choices in terms of honors and AP courses. The school has an excellent credit flexibility program that has allowed my kids to take courses online or independently when the courses are not offered at the school or when they can't be scheduled due to scheduling conflicts. There are many extracuriculars and sports to choose from, however, my kids would like to see a few more clubs at the school. My kids are involved in the school sports and music programs as well, and it has been a very positive experience all around. I have also subbed in the school and have been very pleased so far with the facilities and teachers I have worked with. Would definitely recommend CHS over others.

My teen has attended CHS for two years now. We moved here from another state due to a work transfer and we chose Chillicothe High School because of its AP and Honors courses, Orchestra, music and arts programs. Plus, as it turns out it has a fantastic Broadcasting program which no other school in the state has. While some of the kids at the school are rough, there are also some excellent students. And, while there are a few teachers that are TERRIBLE and should not be teaching, most of them are excellent. Sometimes the good students are treated like bad students, and that is unacceptable. Kids need positive reinforcement, not always negative. Lunches are too expensive probably to balance all of the free lunches they have to serve. The sports program is excellent, but too much emphasis is placed on sports than curriculum. Overall, CHS is BEST IN ROSS CO.

While this school has several good teachers that really care about the students the administration is horrible with the exception of Mr. Fisher. I think he is the best assett that administration has. There are several fights at this school in any given week. Often the wrong students get the most severe punishment. The principal and vice principal do not address discipline issues in a swift and serious manner.

I attend CHS and have for three years now, and while I don't think it's the best school in the country by any means, I do think it's the best in the county. We have wonderful music, arts, and theatre programs, as well as dozens of athletic teams. There are some teachers who don't seem to care, but most of them care a lot and work really hard to give us the best education possible.
