I just had to comment on the last post. There are at least 4 or 5 AP courses offered now. My son was able to go to college with 16 credits because of the AP courses and testing out. I have 2 children in college now and I think Coldwater prepared them very well.

I'm an alumnus of Coldwater High School. Although the academics are generally good, there seems to be an unusually high emphasis on sports from teachers and from the population of students and parents in the community. Also, the high school lacks advanced placement (AP) courses that an advanced student could greatly benefit from. (When I graduated, the school only offered one AP course. Larger schools generally offer a number of AP courses, which provide great opportunities to take more advanced courses in college.) The school should stop worrying about the record of its football and basketball teams and worry more about why its best students lack opportunities to get ahead!

Excellent school that has a great staff of caring people. Located in a rural agricultural setting, away from the distractions and social issues facing larger districts. The community is family oriented to a fault, meaning the environment here is based around family and kids, which drives the agenda for the community as a whole. The school district generates a competitive spirit and sets high standards for expectations that is supported by the parents. My four children were well prepared for secondary education when they graduated from this School. The campus provides an atmosphere for learning and is sectioned to separate children at different age groups. Good interaction between the school, the town, and the local service organizations. GO CAVS!!!!

excellent school - strong on sports. unfortunately, sometimes all this school focuses on is sports, and kids who are not jocks suffer.
