This is truly a hidden treasure and I urge parents to really consider this school for the K-12 students. The new principal is in touch with the community and with the determination of the teachers is pulling Ohio Ave ES to greater heights. This neighborhood has had an insurgence of resources so for those who are investing in Old Towne East ans the Old Oaks are of Columbus....invest in the schools also. Together we can bring about a positive change for everyone....students, faculty ,staff and the community.

My son has been going to Ohio Ave. for almost two years and I am beyond disappointed. He is only in the preschool program and I shutter to think of him continuing at this school. The teacher is less than helpful seems unmotivated to work with the children. I feel like there is too much play time and not enough academic time. Every time I have visited the class they are playing and not learning. I am racking my brain to think of a way to remove him from the CPS system without it costing me more money.

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
