Initially, we thought this was a great school because the christian and/or Biblical principles were consistent with what our child is taught at home and at church. However, after being there for several years, we realized our child was not getting the level of "teaching" considering we were paying tuition. The administration is also rather closed minded in they way things are done. We feel that our child is getting a much better education and experience(s) in public school. The teachers actually teach instead of pushing tons of papers. Our other child will not be attending this school.

My son went to EDCS from 4th grade to 8th grade. The junior high math program needs revamping along with the teachers. Majority of students are not ready for high school math. Teachers have prayer and devotion every morning but still do not like to speak to parents in the hallway. Administration only wants the parents to do fundraising without any input. High school students are intermingled with elementary students and treated the same. No junior high proms. No recognition for 8th grade students other than a 30 second congrats at the tail end of the end of year awards ceremony. More emphasis put on the upcoming senior class that will be graduating 2012 than the 8th grade graduates. Teachers need to be instructed how to be fair to all students. If your child is going to stay at EDCS until 12th grade, fine. However, if they are going to go somewhere else for high school, they will not be able to relate to the other kids because they will not know what to do when they are allowed some freedoms. Hopefully for 2011-2012 year, with the new PTO, parents will now have a voice. Before now, EDCS did not want to listen to the parents only receive money. Would not recommend.

I love the curriculum and most of the staff are great. My kids have grown up in the school and we have had a few minor problems. The fundraising does get old but I know it happens at every private school. They have big plans for the school, but due to space limitations I don't know how possible those plans are. I wish the administrators didn't let there politics seep out into some of the decisions they have made that reflect in a very negative light. Not every Christian is a Conservative and they need to remember this when dealing with a very diverse student body. I will not say they are racist, but some of the decisions made in the past may be viewed as such, which is very unfortunate, because the staff for the most part genuinely care about the students. Great value for the quality of education.

My child attended EDCS. The school is always asking for money for El Salvador (principle's home). The teachers and administration requires diversity training. The curriculum is good. The afterschool program is overseen by people who obviously have no child development and education experience. Child care has no tutoring, or structure, and it doesn't allow the kids to have fun.

East Dayton is a wonderful school that is loving and caring. My daughter has had a wonderful experience there. The school seems to be evolving, growing and changing every year, for the better. Academically, I could not ask for more. The school does have a very strict discipline policy but I think that is a reason they are able to get through so much material and jump ahead of public school. It does cost money to send your child to any private school but, compared to other schools in the area, it's very reasonably priced, affordable and worth every penny! And their before and after school care is very reasonably priced.

A very disappointing experience with this school. The learning success of our student was very poor and the Christian values low. (This is a Christian school). It's a kind of 'Do as I say, not as I do' rhetoric. The studies are intense, challenging, and competitive, but in bad spirit. It's accelerated learning program is not accurate. The school community is very poor. The easy access to the curriculum is abused by many parents and this behaviour is not stifled by administration and teachers. The math and english program was not successfully implemented by the teachers to ensure a good quality education was achieved in the end. The result was deterioration of my childs success. Would never recommend this school to anyone.

A very nice small school environment. Teachers are VERY involved and my child loves going everyday. The work she brings home is excellent and well rounded. She is reading already at only 1/2 way through Kindergarden. Could use more extra curriculars for the older kids. Safty has never been a concern.

Our son is a graduate of East Dayton Christian School, and we know we made the right decision by sending him there! He received a first-rate education and he developed a strong moral foundation as a result. While the extracurricular programs are limited (primarily due to financial constraints), he and his friends were never without options to keep them entertained. The computer lab is top-notch, the teachers feel a personal commitment to the students and their parents, and the administration takes a strong stand on issues of safety and integrity. As parents who consider spiritual and academic growth to be priorities, East Dayton Christian School gets our vote!

From a students perspective for going there for 9 years, I will tell you my thoughts. All the way up to 5th grade everything was great. But when you get to 5-8th grade everybody treats you way differently. They are more strict, don't care about you as much, and they are just all around meaner. You get in trouble for every single thing you do. The teachers really just seem to not care. My advice, dont come to this school in the 5-6 and junior high! p.s. They do not have good activities for you to do. And they dont really care about the activities either.

Great school. Offers diversity and a well executed cirriculum. My child went to a Beavercreek public school and switched to EDCS and although EDCS is more demanding she refused an offer to switch back. The teachers demanded more so she exceled and made the honor roll all six quarters of the school year. Parents are involved and certain behavior is not accepted, which leads to a more pleasant learning environment for all the students. This school is a blessing and instills/reinforces Christian values and just plain common decency. Better yet, they pre-order all school supplies by grade and have them delivered to the school before the first week of school. So every child has the exact same items based upon the teachers preference and no more school supply shopping!

Academic wise, it's the greatest. The school don't have much extra curiculum, but it's an excellent school. Very strict, but we like it. My kids have been attending this school since kinder.

Small classes- teachers care about the students , spend extra time with individuals, discipine is loving , but firm .Basic instruction with high level expected . Also offers a fine music program , arts and theatre .Highly recommend !

My daughter attended EDCS for Kindergarten and First grades. She loved the school and teachers. I loved the balance of spiritual and academic learning as well as the structure my daughter needed to keep her focused.

My children have been attending EDCS for several years. Overall, its a great school with a very aggressive curriculum. Parent involvement is key. It is expensive and there are many funding raisdrs to contend with. There are some strict policies regarding the school uniform make up but nothing that can't be lived with. Consideration should be given to the working parents when scheduling so many meeting, services, parties or programs. Often times, its just too difficult to attend short of upsetting the children.

Our DD attended here for 1st grade. It is a very well-run school with an excellent curriculum. The staff is very organized and teachers are loving. The school is very strict and their rules may be too harsh for some parents (no corporal punishment, though). I recommend this school and would send my DD back if we still lived there!

My child is entering the 7th grade. He started Kindergarten at EDCS. Overall I am pleased with the curriculum. My son has excelled accademically but his social abilities are stagnate. I feel they need to be a little more compassionate towards the kids and stop demanding more money from us. It is very expensive to attend and we should not have to pay for all the extras. Give us a break.

East Dayton Christian is a school wear, the programs offered ie music, sports, are geared toward parents who are school workers, military employees, or homemakers. Other working parents have a difficult time with the schedule for after school activities. Most parents involved, if not all, are parents whos work task falls in one of the above mentioned catagories. Some of those parents, due to their unfriendly, uncaring attitude, should not be working with children. Administration is aware of this and does nothing to change it. The Administration needs to clean house.

Teachers are loving and caring. Curriculum is challenging. Not enough extras. Principal allows too much interferrence from parents. Teachers are treated with little or no respect by administration. Students are not held accountable for there behavior or studies. This is not the atmosphere I would expect from a Christian school. My children are going elsewhere next year. Disappointed Parent
