I attended this school from 1951 to 1958, back then it was a school for kids with special needs. I have only good memories of this school and it's staff. I just heard that they will be closing the school next year. (I heard it on TV just now) I was wondering if they would be having an open house before the school closes. I would love to go through the building one more time before it is torn down. Could someone let me know? This school started me on the road to becoming a responsible and independent adult with an A-1 education. I am sure that it has the same mission that it started out with those many years ago. It will be missed.

I have been a teacher since 1991 and worked with students with special needs in three other schools. I chose to come to Gorman when there was an opening because it is dedicated to the individual needs of students. In other schools, a class with special needs students in just another class and the students needs and challenges are tolerated but not especially attended to. Gorman is truely different. You will not find another school that tries to meet the needs of students and the needs of parents as well better than Gorman. Perhaps the comment about the principal in an early post refers to a previous principal. The present principal is totally dedicated to serving the students and fights for the rights of the students to receive the same benefits as other students in the district.

Great School And Teachers and Teacher Aids. They truly care about our child. The drawaback is the principal. She is very condiscending toward students, parents and staff.

My son was in a NCP (preschool) class. I loved my son's teachers. The staff is very welcoming. The principal is very good. She is personable. You can tell there is a sense of family amongst that staff and students. The students' development and retention is very evident.
