District does not acknowledge "Dyslexia" on IEPs forcing students to progress through Reading Recovery, etc in place of Orton-Gillinham or Wilson, which they do not have available to students. Intervention Specialist was in a constant power struggle with my son. He was being teased for years and would lash out when it happened. He would be punished and we were told no one saw what happened and the other kids denied doing anything. It wasn't until one classroom teacher took it upon himself to eat lunch on the playground and witnessed what our son had been describing.

Our son has enjoyed going to Eli Pinney, and we have found the teachers and staff to be very helpful and interested in our son's education. In addition, there are a number of parent-student and parent-teacher activities.

I've found the quality of education at Eli Pinney to be excellent. I'm not fond of the pods and am disappointed to see class sizes larger than other nearby dublin elementary schools.

The quality og academic programs at Eli Pinney is excellent. My K level daughter has received a wonderful start in her academic career. I have other friends who built a new house and moved closer to the school just to be sure they would never be redistricted. We did not have involvement in extracurriculars but I know the Eli Pinney offers all sorts of music, art and sport. The level of parent invlovement at Eli Pinney is very high. I have never walked into the school and seen less than four parents working on activities. My daughters classroom had 3 classroom Moms, plus Moms and Dads who cam in to read weekly. The PTO is very active at the school and hold regular family socials. I can't say enough great things about this school. It breaks my heart that we are moving out of state and leaving this school district.

This school is very good - the quality of teaching and all events and everything. However there is 0 security - anyone can enter school anytime and there is no special rules or regulations for that. I am really concerned about my child and I think increased security must be the priority now, when terrorists increased their evil activities.

About the tests


In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
