I've gone here all my life so I know how things are run. Most of the teachers are just okay, but some are really awful. There are people there who kiss up to the school and get whatever they want, like a picture of their child on the website. God does remain center, but the weekly chapel is sub par. The building is really starting to deteriorate and a large number of staff is related to each other, like being married to each other. Rules are lax and only certain people get punished for things. The system seems disorganized and highly inconsistent. There are better alternatives for education.

As a parent of a graduate as well as another student who have both attended Open Door since kindergarten, I have been extremely pleased with the high quality of education as well as the care and concern shown by the faculty and staff. I've been impressed with their concern about all aspects of my children's lives -- from academics to spiritual growth. They care about developing the whole person. We have been very involved with the athletic dept. and have been thankful for coaches who are committed to Christ and emphasize godliness on and off the court/field. I would highly recommend Open Door Christian Schools and am proud to be part of their school family.

We are blessed to have all of our children currently in this school & couldn't be more thrilled, not only with their academic progress, but more importantly for us, their spiritual growth! Our HS students were able to take "double math" their freshman year to give them an extra challenge, since they are gifted in this area. Our MS students have been blessed to have teachers who meet with them personally whenever they have questions or struggles in any area. Our elementary students are challenged and loved by teachers who are dedicated and determined to share God's word! Our students are encouraged to begin making their faith their own, from a biblical perspective, and I love that teachers keep us posted on what they are discussing in class, so we can continue these thoughtful discussions at home! Our sophomore son had a paid summer internship at a prominent local business (all other interns were college age!) & this would NOT have been possible without the opportunities he's been given to pursue his passion here at ODCS! We are so grateful that ODCS is helping our students grow spiritually, academically, artistically, athletically & in service ... no matter WHAT grade they are in!

Open Door Christian Schools is a blessing to my children! The education is wonderful with advanced classes (my 7th grader is taking high school math) and special staff for tutoring for students that need it. The teachers love and care for my kids and pray with them. It is a safe place in a world that often scary. I feel the school truly partners with me and so many parents volunteer. My kids state tests scores are great and the school posts their ACT scores which are above the state and national level. As my husband and I look to guiding our children to college, we were impressed to learn that 95% of ODCS graduates go on to college and 88% of graduates are choosing 4-yr. colleges.

The elementary school was agreat school. The middle and high school are not good schools. If your child is apring for local community college this is the school to go to, but if you have higher aspirations for your child- do not waste your money. There is very liitle emphasis on the christian aspect - except chapel. The test scores on OATs are mediocre at best. They hire junior teachers who have a hard time teachig Maths in particular! Our children are falling behind state standard. The administration is inept in handling racially sensitive issues.

I am a graduate of O.D.C.S in 1986. I now have twin boys graduating from O.D.C.S. this year. My son's have traveled, partipated in sports and band and drama. They are both National Honour Society and have a high GPA. I am a single parent and through the school's staff and volunteers my childen have excelled. I also have a college degree and many of my classmates do to. I will admit the school has grown since I attended. Great more opportunities and better attitudes. The school has grown spiritually as well as academically. A great place with parent involvement. These children go on to do many great things. A school worth checking into if you want your children to be successful in life.

I have had children in this school for 13 years. I LOVE this school. The academics and the quality of the teachers are outstanding. They actually CARE about the children there.

Community ratings and reviews do not represent the views of GreatSchools nor does GreatSchools check their accuracy or verify the reviewers' identities. Use your discretion when evaluating these reviews.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
