I have a daughter in the gifted program and it has really helped her. I have seen her come out of her shell so much this year. She really likes it. If your child has the opportunity to get into the program I highly recommend it especially it they plan to attend college!

I have a daughter in the gifted program and she loves it. She is in eighth grade and before 5th grade she was never challenged. This program is great for her. I highly recommend this program for gifted students.

I have a child that is in the intervention program within the middle school and as a parent of a special needs child I feel that the teachers within this program push the child off to other people instead of getting to the root of the problem especially when dicipline is involved. When a child has emotional and behaivorial issues their 'bed side manner' so to speak when it comes to handling students and communication with parents is totally unacceptable and should be evaluated upon the state level.

Need better communication between teachers and parents.

There is great emphasis on standardized testing and discipline issues. Although I feel my child is safe at this school, I would like to see less emphasis on the testing and more on the overall learning process. There isn't much parent involvment but I understand this wanes as children get older. The staff is open and very willing to work with parents.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Ohio used the Ohio Achievement Assessment (OAA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 5 and 8 in science. The OAA is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Ohio. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

About the tests

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests

Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
