My youngest entered Gilmour in the seventh grade and just graduated. The experiences - academically, athletically and socially - were tremendously positive. She will begin her freshman year of college at a very competitive college in the fall. She is leaving Gilmour with confidence and academic preparation that will ease her transition. The curriculum is demanding but the teachers are very supportive. I have two other Gilmour graduates who have thrived in college because of the experiences they had at Gilmour. Our family is very appreciative to Gilmour and we recognize what a wonderful community of teachers, parents and students are at this school.

Gilmour Academy is nothing but a money making machine. Gilmour Academy cares more about money than the education of it's students. The head of the development department is more concerned with making money for the sports programs than the academic. The school atmosphere is very elitist.

I graduated from Gilmour in May of 2008. The curriculum was challenging, but it really prepared me for college in ways that I couldn't imagine. The atmosphere of the small classrooms really helps the students to create a stronger relationship with the teachers, thus benefiting more from their education. I'm really glad that I was able to attend school there. Also, The current Dean is amazing, and he makes sure that everything is running smoothly and that the students are kept in a safe learning environment.

I have two children at Gilmour and I am impressed with the quality of the education and development of the 'child' as a member of the school and the 'community' . I think the fact that the school is coeducational has a significant advantage over other elite eastside single sex programs. I dont like the fact the school spent 19,000,000 on a new pool and sport arena. That money could and should have been utilized for academics. The famlies of the children are great. I think you get a superior product. While the wealth of Gilmour easily exceeds University, Laurel and other schools, I find the arrogance of those schools are not present at Gilmour.

My son graduated May, 2008 and had been at the academy grades 6 thur 12. He graduated near the top of his class and was accepted to many fine colleges and universities, and finally decided to attend one of the top 20 universities in the nation. Most important was that he learned critical thinking skills and how HIS brain works. The teachers are always willing to help. The workload is tough, but worth it. My daughter is currently in upper school and is doing extremely well. This is the place that not only prepares your child for academic success, but also stresses values and personal character as a part of their mission.

Although Gilmour has a few excellent teachers, the environment borders on misogynistic. This is not a good school for girls, unless the girl's life ambition is to be a trophy wife. The school has spent money disproportionately on athletics, while its academic and arts programs have declined.

The Middle and Upper Schools are fantastic. Great leadership, challenging work and a caring nurturing staff make it a wonderful environment for your children. The Lower School (1-6) is spotty. Examine carefully before commiting as the leadership is here is below average.

the academic programs at the academy make it by far one of the best. no public school can even compare to the amount of work, courses, and teachers that are at the school and very few prep schools can either. The teachers are amazing, somtimes there are clashing of opinions with the administartion but the dean is leaving next year (2006) and the new prospects look even better. The campus is great, almost all the athletic teams have winning records, and for the most part students seem to be happy. The only complaint i ever hear is regarding the workload, but with the money you pay to go here it is expected.

I have one son enrolled there at the moment, but my older son just graduated and I went there when I was a child. The School is amazing at helping every child with what they need and want our of life. My family is better because of the Gilmour experience.

I switched my two children here and have been nothing but thrilled with the results. Classes are small and the whole atmoshphere is one of respect for teachers and students alike.
