This school teaches to the test. My child's teachers have been hit and miss, some terrible, some great. The principal can get unnecessarily surly when a policy is questioned, but keeps good order at the school. I do not like sending my child to this school, but it is relatively safe and he likes the people there. I only worry about his interest level waning as he's taught again and again that all that matters is how he does on the OATS at the end of the year.

I have to agree with submitted by a parent. I also have multiple children in elementary, middle and the Jr./Sr. High School. I am also been impressed with the Intermediate. I have meet or at least spoke with everyone of the teachers there and they were all very kind and helpful. Mr Leo was outstanding also. Keep up the good work.....

Love this school! Mr. Leo and Staff are wonderful... My fourth child starts 4th grade is coming Fall, my third child will be in 5th, and my two others are in Jr./Sr. High School. Of all the Girard Schools, I have been MOST impressed with the Intermediate. Go Girard!!!

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
