As a staff member at this school, I see on a daily basis the time and care that our teachers give our students. Our administrators are strict when they need to be and kind and encouraging when that is called for. All students are encouraged to work hard and reach their goals. Our building may be old, but what's happening inside its four walls is quality education.

HI I'm a sixth grade student at south school. I think the curriculm for the advanced student needs some work they focas more on helping the students with disabilities (not that that's a bad thing) than with well helping us get ahead but i'm not living up to my full potential. Well the teachers are boring and they don't really try to relate to thier students. There is an excellent band program in both the 6th and 5th grades. While most teachers are boring there are a few bright spots in the dreary school. The playground is not very good the only things there is to do is tetherball, kickball, basketball and swings. the building is also older than dirt but that is ok because it is still functonal. While the teachers are not the greatest they do try and that's what really counts!

South school is awful! the teachers do not communicate with the parents and the principal sits up on here high horse and just dictates instead of being a principal. Do not send your kids there!

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
