GCCS is losing good teachers and administrators at an alarming rate! The school is being run by the church (Grove City of the Nazarene) and decisions are being made that are not necessarily in the best interest of the school. The high school has had 3 prinicipals resign in the last 5 years - clearly something is wrong with the administration of the school.

GCCS is no longer the cutting-edge academic institution it once was. The once small school has morphed into a school who has lowered its standards, lost faith in its teachers, and totally overlooked what makes a great principal (at least in the high school). The current high school principal is rarely seen in the halls, avoids parental meetings, fails to support his staff, doesn't know the students' names, and has no principal licensure. If you are considering enrolling your child in the elementary or middle school, speak to others whose children are in those particular schools. If your child is a high schooler, keep searching for a strong school...the GCCS high school is not it.

We love GCCS because of our wonderful ever caring teachers and staff. They teach with such compassion not only academics, but they help our students develop the grace and spirit needed to be successful in our ever changing world. Our athletics department is second to none, creating great opportunties for our students to be recognized by some of the best colleges in the country. There is so much to learn in 12 short years, at GCCS you get it all!

My children have attended this school since kindergarten. I think the school is going through growing pains and has misrepresented their curriculum opportunities. I am saddened and disappointed. I cannot recommend this school to others.

My child has learned so much at this school. He enjoys weekly chapel and learns valuable lessons about living a Christian life. I know the teachers sacrifice salary to stay and teach at GCCS. I appreciate them!

My child currently attends GCCS and it has been an experience!! The academic program seems to challenging and stimulating to my child. The Christian teachings have been wonderful and are taught as they apply to life - in the past, present, and future! The difficult part for my family has been accepting that just because one claims to be a Christian does not necessarily make it so - as we have experienced negative comments and treatment from some of the staff! It is important for my child to know that he/she has value - not to be judged by adults who profess to be Christians. Jesus himself said, 'Suffer not the little children...'

It is AWESOME!!!! All of my friends go there and we get along well. It is a Christain school so you learn about God and Jesus everyday! It is a very good school.Excepet for the fact that we have to wear uniforms.

As parents of 2, soon to be 3, children at GCCS we thoroughly love it! I could not imagine my kids going anywhere else. My children are in pre-k, k & 3rd grades. They adore their teachers, and even the principal! Now if that doesn't tell you something I don't know what will. Anyway, I have read the previous reviews and I respect everyone's opinion. However, life at GCCS is calm, forgiving, and nurturing. On the flip side, those in authority are respected not out of fear but because they have earned it. They are diligently growing their sports programs. Although I am not a fan of any sport I think it's great that the school is more academically focused rather than sports focused. After all, knowledge is what will get one through life. The church portion of the school just closed out their first UPWARD! program for the little ones.

I have attended GCCS since kindergarden and i am currently a freshman. i was given the oppertunity to leave GCC and i immediatly said no. this is the best school ever. everyone is so close to each other; its almost like we are family. Our acedemics are strong and i feel challenged everyday to do better by the teachers. OUr athletics are also a strong respect; we have developing sports teams that are growing everyday and extraordinary coaches that make us strive to do our possible best. THe Fine Arts area is such a good part of our school; sadly there are few students that have the courage to sing in choir or radical obedience, play in band (whether it be marching, jazz, or concert), play handbells, or paint/sculpt,draw a masterpiece. There are very talented and inspirational students attending this fine school.Gccs is my home.

I flee that GCCS focusses to much on athletics and not enough on academics. There are better Christian school in Ohio that are more academic oriented.

Every cent I spend living on less to provide my child's education at GCCS have been worth it. The teachers send out weekly updates and all papers in 'Friday folders' in elementary school. My child is challenged beyond what her respective public school currently expects. Best of all, the staff is supportive, listens, helps, and prays over each child like they were the number one priority. Admiministration -great! Only complaint- The Music programs are quite weak. :( Elementary music is almost all rote learning and doesn't come close nor try for the quality of the local schools in this area. I appreciate the Bible knowledge my child receives. My child and her friends are building Biblical character -respect, moderation, self control...these are lost in public school today.

I attended this school for middle and high school, and now that I have a child of my own, I can't wait for her to be able to attend. I know she'll receive an excellent education here, and she'll be more than prepared for college when she graduates.

As a grand parent of two stuents attending GCCS, I have the highest regards for the leadership of the school and for the teachers who teach the children not only the subjects matter requried by the state but also teach them in such a matter that God and the Bible is brought out directly and indirectly on all that they do

While I do not believe that it is possible for a school to be perfect, GCCS is very close. It currently has a fairly new Administrative Staff that is growing each day. While I feel that it is very good right now, I believe that it will only get better in time. GCCS has made a commitment to grow its sports and music departments as well. This is evident with the recent addition of a football team and a financial commitment to build a new stadium. The most gratifying aspect of GCCS is how secure I am with the high level of learning they receive from the quality staff.

GCCS provides a quality education and has quality students. My child was not being challenged at her public school and is now with a group that keeps her striving. The kids are very kind and almost all are on honor roll. They are currently expanding the sports programs and have extremly involved parents(sometimes too involved!)overall a very good school.

I love this school! I have 2 daughters who are now in 4th and 6th grade. The staff is excellent! They really are very caring for your children. Parental involvement is high which gives the teacher more time to focus on teaching. I am happy with this school!

This is our son's first year at GCCS and it has been terrific. He attended Maranatha Christian until it closed and we were apprehensive about starting a new school. But our apprehension was groundless and we praise the Lord for allowing our son to attend this wonderful school. The academics are challenging, the student body welcoming to new students and the staff caring and dedicated. No school will ever be perfect, nor will its staff or students, but GCCS is tops in our opinion.

My child has attend K-2nd so far.My sisters kids K-6. The school expects great things from their students, look at the senior scholarships all academic, soon to be sports with the addition of the new sports complex. Bad behavior, disrespect and interruptions are not tolerated and kids actually behave. Teachers are caring, respectful and have an interest in each student. They are not just a number to pass the test. As for the mentioning of Sports and the real world. The real world is what is taught at home too. My son plays sports and does other activites outside of school and we live in the real world. The school does not show any favoritism toward church members etc. I am not a church memeber and feel my child is getting the best education. Anywhere, your going to find an obnoxious parent at a sporting event. Christian or Not.

This is my 8th year with a child at this school. Academically--great at elementary level! Discipline is great. Children are well behaved. Extracurricular is not as good as a public school. Unfortunately, they do not practice what they preach. 'Don't tell me you're a Chrisitan--Show me your a Chritian.' Favoritism is played in the classroom and sports, especially among church members of the school. Some school fans at sporting events appear to not represent a Chrisitan school. Heckling of officials is common practice. Teachings are not tolerate of other religions; however, a great teaching of Bible is done here. Parent involvement is expected--many Mom's are stay at home Mom's, so a working Mom is a minority. Concerned about 'real world' preparedness if attend all 12 years at GCCS. School does not seem to encourage activity outside of the church.

I went to this school from 1995 through 1999, I don't know how much it has changed but when I went it wasn't that great. When I went they were very judgmental. I do think that most of the teachers played favorites a lot more than usual, but some of the teachers were good. My older sister, many of her friends that use to attend the school, and my mom also agree with what is said above. But do not take only our opinion into thought when thinking about this school, because once again it was a couple of years ago when the school was still new and it could have changed.

My two elementary school-aged children previously attended GCCS through October, 2003 at which time our famiily relocated. The teachers were wonderful and caring. Our children are attending a different christian school in our new city, and the difference is noticeable. They are learning and being fed the word of God, but the students are no where near as mature or well mannered as they are at GCCS. If you are looking for a school that does more then just teach the curriculum, take a walk down the halls of the school during a school day. You will experience respect from the students, well-mannered lines walking quietly down the halls as well as smiling and loving teachers who are willing to take a generous pay cut in relation to public schools to teach at GCCS. Thank you to the whole staff for loving and teaching our children for four wonderful years.
