I can't disagree more with the reviews below. My daughter just finished her first year at Glendening. She absolutely loved it. She had Mrs. Wise (Kindergarten teacher) and I couldn't be happier. My daughter has learned so much. She went in barely reading. 3 months in, she was reading on a first grade level. Of course there are some bullies, but you're going to get that everywhere you go. One thing I can say is that there seems to be a lot of students in one classroom which can take away from the individual attention that could be used towards each student. Mr. Brogan is a very hands on principal. I've had a great experience at Glendening.

Bus drivers let kids get off at wrong bus stops and don't even know it, this is a safety problem.

I have been dealing with this school for almost a decade. They are awesome if you have the PERFECT straight A student. However, most kids are not that. If you have a student with learning disabilities or behavioral problems they are horrible. The staff and the children bully without much repercussion. The principal talks a big game, but in the end, is unhelpful. It gets very very bad.

My son has ADHD and is in first grade. Last year, he was constantly in trouble, written up, held from having recess (a great idea when a kid already has too much energy, obviously), separated from sitting with other kids. I had talked to his teacher and seemed like nothing was done. I also had to ask multiple times to have him tested for his 'gifted' level, and it wasn't until a month or so before school ended that I was finally listened to. The whole year he complained about how bored he was, and when I approached the teacher was ignored. This year his teacher seems to be more inclined to listen to my concerns, and has already told me that the issues of boredom with schoolwork was already seen, and has told me he intends to do all he can to challenge my child. I am hopeful this teacher will help my child, as last year no one seemed to want to listen to me, on every level that I went to with my concerns. I think some teachers seem ok (this first grade teacher has so far worked out), but overall I don't find them very helpful when it comes to children who have things going on outside of the 'norm' (ie ADHD and advanced/gifted learning).

My daughter is ADHD and hyperactive and it just seems the teachers do not care or want to care. There isn't a day she doesn't come home frustrated and upset. I contacted the principal with my problems and was ignored. If you move to the area and have the money I would recomend a private or a charter school. As for me, I am homeschooling my daughter,

Glendening is the same school I went to as a child and they love their students, although the district is falling on hard times and can't provide as much as they used to. I think this school could truly use a good computer lab, new excercise equipment, or something of that nature and I know they would put this money to good use. My daughter currently attends and she loves the school as well.

My child attended this school through grade 4. Because she was bright, she spent 2-4 hours PER DAY reading while the other students were being taught. We decided on private school; no more complaints about being bored etc. Groveport schools continue to rank near the bottom of all of the school districts in Franklin County. If moving to this area (which is a great community) look to charter/private schools for education.

My two oldest children attend this school and I have found it so much better than the other elementaries in the district. They attended Groveport Elementary for Kindergarten and I absolutely hated it. My son has special needs including a reading disablility, ADHD, and learning disability. The kindergarten teacher gave me no help and singled him out every chance she got. We went to Glendening for first grade per recommendation of the Director of Special Ed and I have never regretted it! He is starting to catch up and gets more individual attention than at Groveport Elementary. His sister is reading two grades above her level! I am very excited for them andcan't wait to see them excel in the Groveport Schools!

The staff at Glendening works very closely with each child and continuously updates the parents of their progression. There are also many activities put on that keeps the childs impression of the school very positive. My child loves it!

I think Glendening is a great school. Mr. Sternberg is easy to talk to and the teachers are always willing to talk to me if there are problems.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
