my granddaughter attended gcs for kindergarten last year and had learned to read & write in the middle of the year at the end of the year she had finish in the top 1 % of her class. thanks to her teacher Ms. Dawid and thanks to all the teachers and both principals keep up the good work and we will see you next year thank you very much for being so kind and caring.
My daughter is going into 2nd grade next year and I am very pleased with her progress. She has attended GCS since it opened her Kindergarten year. By the time she was out of Kindergaten she was reading at a middle 1st grade level and was doing 1st grade Math. At the end of this past year she is reading at nearly a 3rd grade level. She has been very fortunate to have had 2 excellent teachers. My only concern(s) with GCS is the lack of disipline with the child who are a continues problem. The lack of not enforcing the Zero Tolerance Policy. As well as a couple of the Administration. Hopefully all can be worked out and straightened out with our new Principal.
One of the best schools around. They offer so much for the students education. The teachers care and are always available to the parents.
The only reason the test scores for this school aren't high is because they got kids from school districts which are failing. This is their second year there, I believe with time, the test scores are going to skyrocket. The teachers are all there for the kids. It's a great school woth a great learning environment. I would recommend it to anyone with children. If you want a school with teachers that care more for the children and what they learn, rather than just test scores, this is the school for you. Bravo to this school and it's teachers.
My daughter is now in 3rd grade at GCS and attended here for 2nd grade also. We love it, she has been attending Imagine schools since she began kindergarten. She started at Great Western Academy for k- 1st Grade and move to GCS after we relocated to this area. She is now reading on a grade above her reading level and has been since the 2nd grade, she accells in math and science. I also have a daughter in kindergarten now, she is also exceeding my expectations. the teachers here are great, they point out a childs stuggles and work on them and challenge a child who is ahead . If I had to chose again I would have done the same all over again, I would not allow my children to attend any of the surrounding school districts ever !!!!!!
My son attended kindergarten at GCS and it was a great experience. He learned more than I ever expected and his teachers were always willing to help me in keeping him on track. I often spoke with his teachers regarding his behavior and the things he was learning in school and their recommendations as to what books he should be reading outside of school and how I could help him learn more outside of school. They were always knowledgeable and friendly. I truly loved GCS.
I chose Groveport Community School mainly because I was drawn to their direct teaching method. My child is a normal, average child who, despite testing above average at the beginning of the year, struggled. Her teacher recognized this immedately and she was later diagnosed as having a form of dyslexia. Without an attentative/caring teacher & small reading groups, it might have not been caught. I love the fact that if your 1st grader is reading at a 2nd grade level, she goes to 2nd grade for reading, etc! I love that there is no holding back just because your child is bright! I also like that this kindergarten is an academic kindergarten as opposed to a play kindergarten.
I allowed my young(4 at the time) daughter to enroll in their kindergarten program. She is now at the end of the year and can barely read or do simple math problems but yet is pulling A's or O's as they call them. She will NOT be back next year. Not a solid foundation. I chose this for her over preschool and for that it was good. Otherwise, my son who attends Madison Elementary and is equally intelligent could read Shakespeare compared to where she is at might now at the end of kindergarten, I mean this relatively speaking of course. Good luck to this school in the future.
