Hillsdale Elementary School

I am a retired middle school math and English teacher, and I am very satisfied with the education given my grandchildren: challenging curriculum,excellent teachers, high expectations, solid guidance and good leadership. The report cards are detailed even without added comments. The school also offers age-approriate enrichment activities.The kids are thriving under these experiences.

I have two children enrolled in the elementary. I love the teachers. They really go the extra mile, but the principal is not a problem solver. His attitude is 'boys will be boys'. Sorry but that is not how to work things out. The community attends functions but relys on a few parents to make all arrangements, so that is a down fall where your regular volunteers get burnt out. We are hoping for a new school as we are in need of a new one and our k have to suffer with crazy schedules due to not enough classrooms and budget for teachers for this grade. Overall we enjoy our small school.

Hillsdale is a country school with awesome faculty and students. I am presently the PTO president and although we have a strong core group of parents there really isn't a lot of parental involvement at least where the PTO is concerned. The parents support and enjoy the activites we provide but yet there isn't a large group that will help us. The principal is great, he is a straight forward guy. He tells it how it is when approached with anything. I find this a great quality in a principal as open and honest communication is a must when running a school. The school is very well kept but a new school is needed in the near future as the current one is very old. Overall is is a great country school and I am very happy to send my children there.
