The 2007 comments are just not true. There have been accelerated learning opportunities at Lakewood (Hebron Ohio) since my kids were in kindergarten (2005). They are both in accelerated learning programs and have been since day one. This is a good community and I have NOT been here all my life. Lakewood also has fantastic extracurricular activity opportunities. Just to name a few: Scouting, Softball, Baseball, Football, Soccer, Wrestling and Basketball. People here take Pride in this community. I could easily afford to enroll my children in a parochial school. However, I prefer they understand the real world . This school pushes kids to do their best and take pride in what they do.

Hebron Elementary is staffed with some of the most compassionate, dedicated staff. Individulition for each child is evident in the curriculum and teacher planning. Funding for additional tutoring opportunities have been implemented. The principle has created an environment where parents truely feel as if they are partners in their child's education. The physical environment is not ideal, but it is a reflection of state and local funding, the district does a great job over-comming.

My child attended kindergarten here. This school was a huge disappointment. Hebron is a title 1 school. The parent involvement is very low. There are a lot of discipline problems and even though the handbook says there is a zero tolerance policy ,it is not enforced. The academic standard is low and there are no accelerated learning opportunities available should your child need them. There are also environmental issues at the school,if your child has allergies or asthma it would be a bad environment for them.
