I must ADAMANTLY disagree with the parent that said "The principal and vice principal do not care about the safety and security of the students." I have found that to be as far away from the TRUTH as one can get. My experiences with the principal have always been handled in a serious and professional manner. He does care and he proves it with immediate action.
The principal and vice principal do not care about the safety and security of the students. We have had several problems with our daughters being bullied and threatened in school and on the school bus. None of these incidents were ever handled to my satisfaction. At the end of the year we are moving from the district. I would not recommend sending your children to this middle school without first getting their blackbelt to protect themselves. The school staff certainly won't protect them.
Both principals and all staff have always been very helpful.
We are two middle school girls that love our school. Sure some of the teachers are strict but it pushes you to work harder. We are all individual students. Some do pick fights but most of us aren't bad. So some people are mean to others but, were middle school boys and girls that's what happens when you get that many kids together were teenagers. We are all different. So the lunches may be nasty but we get food and the garlic mashed potatos rock!!!!!!!! wwwwwwow we sound weird lol ...when new kids come most people say hi and it is nice to meet you so we make good impressions and the teachers show kids around kayyy welll hope you enjoy lakewood its a blast!!!! its always fun there! trust us.
I am currently a student at Lakewood. I love my teachers but there are many fights everyday. I honestly do not feel safe in my own school. Teachers should care more about their students. I am a tolerable student that has been on the principal's list for years. I feel as if I get no recognition. I am very unhappy with the learning stability and the lunches. They don't provide much and for what they do give, it tastes like grandpa feet. I wish there were more stability with students and all punishments were taken a little lighter. If you get into a fight, you should be suspended and not just get a lunch detention. I think many, many more things should be changed. As you can tell, I have quite a vocabulary. I am a 7th grader and this is how I feel about my own school.
Although this may bring up some controversy, i disagree with the other to reviews. my tree chilren have gone to lakewood all of their lives and they do very well. although my oldest two are much older then my youngest and already graduated my youngest daughter is going into eighth grade, and she has managed to keep and A in all of her classes for the past two years. A teacher can only do so much. if your child doesnt want to learn, the teacher cannot force them to. in my opinion you get as much out of lakewood as you put into it. if you are there every week to check on your child and talk with their teachers they are likely to improve, because you are involved. and my daugter tells me that there are few fights in her school at all. it's basically a farm school! teresa
I agree with the other parent that has a review posted here. A lot of the children in the middle and high school act like animals and the Principal and teachers don't seem to care at all. It seems as if all they care about is getting to the end of the day and the end of the week to collect that paycheck. This area is very diverse with wealthy and very poor seems as if all the children act the same way though, like animals, the children treat each other terrible, fights and bullying going on constantly. We will try and stay until my girls are graduated but if things get much worse we will move.
My husband and I are EXTREMELY unhappy with the middle school. We loved grades K-5 but as soon as our son got into the middle school it has been a mess. The teachers there do not care at all, one is on his cell phone throughout the whole class. I have went in several times and have gotten no where with the teachers (they are in groups) We absolutely hate it. I don't know what happened with the kids either, they are the same kinds but as they have aged they now act terrible, spitting off buses, cussing and humping each other, it is sad to watch. The teachers and principals have NO control!
