This school is really good! We have state bound sports and the academics are very challenging! I'm in all honors classes here and I'm learning what I need to. It is very diverse here so not everyone is singled out and the teachers befriend everyone! And again we have the best sports and have the best fans and crowd. Best student sections in the nwo!! You can everything you need here whether it be in sports or academics. Also the teachers are very caring and strive to have students succeed. They are fair to any type of student, even if they have a disability. The amount of homework varies from just right to way too much but I would rather have that than too little. And the students are very involved in the community as well! I switched from a catholic school to here and I would not go to any other school! #devilnation

I realize that there are issues in the district with the community not wanting to support the schools and it is sad. However, the attitude of the new principal and some of the teachers is very concerning. Did you know that parents are not allowed to see their own children's exams? The reason you ask? Because the teachers do not want to put in the extra work of making up another exam in case you might give the exam to another student to help them cheat. I even expressed concern that most teachers are solely relying on the online grading system to communicate with the parents and are not sending home any regular tests and quizzes. I told the principal that I felt very inconvenienced to constantly email the teachers requesting for them to be sent home. The response I got was "Why should I inconvenience all of my teachers just for you?". Is this what we are paying for? Is this what our children deserve? To not be offered the opportunity to learn from mistakes, or have their parent be able to help them do better, because it is inconvenient to the teacher?

I have no idea what prompted the previous poster, but I could not disagree more. The interactions I have had with the staff have been good - respect and interest in what I have to say. SHS is continually improving its programs and activities. The quality of its curriculum cannot be disputed: AP classes, post secondary classes, etc. These are not the type of classes that are offered at horrible schools. Is any school perfect? No, but Springfield sets the standard and expectations high for its students, staff and parents. This is a diverse community in all ways - socially and economically, and SHS rises to the challenges that diversity entails each and every day.

The first word that comes to mind when I think of Springfield Schools is 'community'. From elementary, middle school, to high school - the staff, students, parents, families, are one community. The willingness to lend a helping hand and get involved with our children s education is remarkable. The athletics, performance arts, alumni activities are second to none. Springfield Schools is a great place to feel part of a family! I look forward to having my children continue their educational path in this wonderful school system!

I looked at the other reviews, and it would seem the school quality has tanked considerably since then. The staff is uncaring, rude, and badmouths students behind their backs and in earshot of other students. The on-site police officers are unfair and prejudiced. The dress code, which was desperately needed, is not enforced. There are other issues I will not get into here, but the end result is a negative school that has spawned a horrible sense of apathy and negativity among its students.

I couldn't have asked for a more experienced and caring staff and faculty to help guide me through my four years. I was exposed to many fields of study and taught good values that have helped me thrive in college. I abesolutely loved my high school journey!

Our principal, Mike O'Shea is the best principal I have ever worked with in my children's 12 years of schooling. He attends every extracurricular activity that he possibly can which shows these students that he cares! The school system is very dedicated to giving our kids the resources they need to succeed!
