Bullying runs rampant in this schhol with no efforts by administration to address the problem. My child, who has never seen the inside of the Principal's office, comes home frequently with tales of how football players are untouchable and mow other kids down in the hallway, and how the girls are so mean and catty that the other girls cry. A friend recently told me that "its like that at any school you go to." I disagree. I don't want that kind of environment for my child.

We moved to this school district from another state. From a school in which my daughter excelled in everything she did, from a school that I felt safe sending my child to and had many more options for her to excel. I read reviews and was excited to send her to this "top notch" public school. She has made plenty of friends and still makes good grades but she doesn't have the opportunities that she once had. I once knew each and every one of her teachers now I don't even know what her teachers look like. Maybe it is more difficult for us because we came from an excellent school district. If this is one of the better schools in OH I'd hate to see the bad ones. My child never not wanted to go to school and for the first time she wakes up every morning not wanting to go. I just wonder what all the fuss is about. The faculty has no control over what the kids do and anybody can just walk into that school w/o anyone noticing. I don't know, maybe I'm being negative or it is to soon to say, but so far I really am not impressed with this school.

Great programs, very clean, I find the teachers to be professional and care. The class sizes tend to run small.

Springfield Middle School is a terrific school! There are gifted programs at all grade levels and the school is offering Chinese language and culture this year as well as French, German and Spanish. The academic standards and expectations are quite high and parental involvement is apparent. The school does offer inclusion specialists for those students that need additional help and we all (adults too!) need that sometimes! My daughter attended the middle school for 3 years and now my son is attending as well. My husband and I are exceptionally happy with the administrative and teaching staff. There are many extracurricular sport and academic programs available in all grades: Afro Club, Power of the Pen, Chess Club, Quiz Bowl, Math Counts, Lego Robotics League, Band, Choir, sports of all sorts and the list goes on....SMS is a wonderful place to send your student to be educated, I promise!

Springfield Middle School's academic program is right on target. The approach they have taken seems to be working, and producing the quality of education all children deserve. They offer many additional classes such as, Spanish, German, Family Living, Computer, Tech. The music and art program are both available, and allow the creativeness to grow. The sport program is great, I wish they would include the 6th grade. Sports are a way for all kids to express themselves, stay in shape and help build skills that will continue with them throughout their adult lives. I would like to see improvement in the area of special needs children. The district needs to provide all staff with training, not just inclusion specialist and aides, but any staff member who interacts with these children. Our district definately needs to improveme in this area.
