Compared to Government guidelines and some on-line sites, Hooven Elementary is sadly lacking in the basics of education, except in the Kindergarden and perhaps the First Grade. Second Grade students begin to fall behind the curve. However, the biggest failure I see is safety for the students, expecially outside the school building. There is a public street that surrounds the playground, with no fencing at all. The children are permitted to play everywhere in the playground and many are out of reach of the teacher if someone decided to grab one of them. Plus, the teachers don't seem to be able to protect the children from each other and there are many fights and minor accidents on the playground. We are homeschooling our children for these two reasons.
