Independence Middle School

During the course of our middle school careers, many teachers have influenced and made a difference in our lives. But of all of these memorable educators, two stand out in our minds. Mr. Schuld, our seventh grade history teacher, is one of the most sensitive and caring people we have ever met, and he went over and above the call of duty to ensure the happiness of his students. Furthermore, his tireless work when planning the 2003 Eighth Grade Class Trip exemplified how much he truly cared for us. Along with Mr. Schuld, one other teacher really understood the significance of incorporating fun into the classroom. Of course, we are talking about our eighth grade history teacher, Mr. McGuinness. Through his characteristic humor, but caring personality and complimentary nature, he touched all of us and forged the ideal relationship between student and teacher. Words can't describe how much they mean to us.

I have recently finished four amazing years at Independence Middle School. I am sure that everyone who has attended I.M.S can agree that there is no other middle school where students and staff communicate and work together so cohesively. The atmosphere inside is so warm and welcoming and strong feelings of teamwork, togetherness, and family pervade the entire school and people within. Numerous extracurricular activities have given me the opportunity to seek solutions to subject matter that is not commonly found in traditional classroom studies, such as improving my leadership and teamwork. But what is most amazing about this school is the incredible staff. Dedicated, intelligent, loving and caring, they have been more than just teachers in the various ways they have inspired, touched, motivated and made a difference in our lives. And with Mr. Vittardi's excellent leadership to top it off, this middle school certainly soars above all others.
