Tarhe is the best Elementary school my family has been part of! My older daught. went here 3rd.-5th. Now my 2 grandkid's attend we are proud to be part of such a great group of people....
My son started here in Kindergarten, he is in 1st grade this year. He has behavioral issues but that has not kept the staff from devoting their full attention to his academics and not just his behavior. He is a great student and every teacher has helped him blossom. The teachers are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure each student has their best learning tools available, even if that means implementing change in norms. The parents of the school are also devoted to helping the school and its students e the best they can be. Tarhe is a Great School!!
Tarhe is great a great school! Parents are very involved here. Sometimes it is hard to tell the teachers from the kids though because of the way they dress.
Tarhe is an excellent school with happy, positive teachers and great attention to success in the classroom for each child. My two sons have finally enjoyed school this year after transferring to Tarhe from another school outside of the Lancaster City Schools district. They are learning and improving noticeably in math and reading. The Principal, Mr. Knight, knows all of the students' names and makes the students feel valued and noticed. It is a good atmosphere for learning.
The principal and staff do a tremendous job here! My kids look forward to school each day! We moved into our current home just so our children would be able to attend Tarhe Elementary!
Great elementary school good leadership and great educator. My children are excited to go to school
Tarhe is a wonderful school with an excellent staff and very involved parents. We had a very easy transition transferring in from another school. We are very proud to be a part of the Tarhe Elementary family!
This school is awesome. The teachers care about every student, use technology in their lessons, and help increase students knowledge daily.
Wonderful school with great staff! Mr. Knight pretty much knows each student by name and greets them daily!
I can not say enough wonderful things about this school and staff. From the principal who knows every student by name or the kindergarten teacher willing to wipe the tears of my terrified kindergartners eyes all the way to the custodian who you will find opening katsup packets and fruit cups for the kids at lunch. I attended this school as an adolescent and feel so lucky and blessed that my son went to Tarhe all of his school years and now my daughter. Tarhe is not just a school it's a Family!
Tarhe is a great school overall but there are some areas that cause me concern. The reading program in kindergarten seems to be lacking. Reading is such an important educational need that I feel reading groups should be done daily in kindergarten. For both my children it was hit or miss whether they had reading at school. I had to work very closely with my children to see to it that they were able to read adequately. While I take responsibility to see that my children are learning by working with them at home, I feel the teachers also need to be doing their jobs! The other major concern I have is during inside recess. I think it is dangerous and inappropriate that the students are left unattended in the classrooms during inside recess. A teacher walking the halls and occasionally popping in is not acceptable! To expect a room full of kindergartners to make wise choices all the time is preposterous to me! If I were to leave my children unattended at home for 15 min to 30 min I would be in trouble with the law. I understand teachers are allotted breaks but the school needs to come up with a better solution than leaving kids unattended.
Great school that challenges my children academically and encourages the use of technology. Great staff and principal!
Thank you so much to our very hard working PTO. They have already organized a walk-a-thon and a family fall party last Friday night. What a wonderful way to support our Tarhe students and their families.
I have been w/ this school 8 yrs and I still love it. Principle makes a point to learn students and parents name, open communication and always an email away. Teachers are all wonderful.
This School is a Great School. The principle is very involved in the school and you can tell that he really cares about the students. The teachers are wonderful!
There is no school that will be absolutely perfect for every student every time. Mr. Knight and his staff work create the best possible environment for learning outcomes. I have, and have had students attending this school. It's reputation was a deciding factor in our move to Lancaster. ABOLUTELY NO REGRETS!!
Tarhe is a great school overall. Most of the teachers and staff are caring. The principal is a good principal who always makes his best effort. He is friendly and pleasantly acknowledges all students. However, several timed math tests for ALL students, including the very young, is going overboard. Tarhe is a safe place for children and the playground is also fairly safe. More staff on the playground at recess times would make it safer. The teachers should have adequate training to be able to appropriately handle children with mild developmental disabilities. I don't agree with having the teachers video tape children when they are misbehaving and then playing the video back to the child. Tarhe did have a Holiday program, but the children sang to each other in the gym. The parents were not allowed to watch because there wasn't enough room. It would be nice if Tarhe could consider having a Holiday program held at the High School, to accommodate the children and their parents. One teacher in particular was dressed inappropriately on numerous occasions. Aside from my suggestions, Tarhe is the best elementary school in Lancaster.
I have always found the staff incredibly helpful and caring towards my children. School is a safe and fun place to go with supportive adults. The PTA is very involved and provide lots of support for the teachers and children in the school. The facilities are decent, albeit crowded. My only complaint is with the limited availability of higher-level books in the library appropriate for 5th grade students. I have had to supplement my children's access to more challenging reading material through the local library. Overall I think Tarhe is a great school, and I wouldn't send my children to any other school in the area.
This really is a great school, and i could not be more happy for my daughter to attend here. Mr. Knight the principal, is so great with the kids and so involved. I love my daughters 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Byas! If you are looking for a grade school in the area where the teacher and parents are equally involved this is the school for you!
