Very unorganized staff, large student to teacher ratio 27:1 in my sons 2nd grade which is outragous! Very rude and unfriendly secretary that couldnt even tell me what time school started or what time my sons bus would come. She told me to just put him on a bus and he will get here, are you kidding me hes 7! She didnt even know when school started, how much lunch was or anything! After today Im thinking about disenrolling before he starts tommorow and taking him to private school!
I'm not very impressed with the teaching abilities of my childs teacher. She is very unorganized and very rude to her students parents.
My son, who is 14, attended Bascom from 1st-2nd grade. My daughter, who is five,is attending kindergarten there this year. I have noticed a very caring attitude with anyone that I have come in contact with there, not only the teachers. The academic programs, seem to me, to be well instructed and presented in a way that keeps the children interested in learning. The music program is excellent, my son has been in band since 4th grade and loves it and has participated in various sports throughout his fourteen years with no complaints. The coaches are very supportive and encouraging to all the kids. As for the parental involvement, I have never seen such a huge turnout for any program, be it sports, band concerts, etc.. It has always been a packed house. What impresses me most is the huge outpouring of support for less than fortunate families in our area.
Bascom school does nothing for the children that need help with reading or other things. We have talked to everyone one involved and got no help with my granddaughter. I even asked her teacher to get her help with her reading and nothing happened. I understand it is the law that they have to test these kids, so will see. Will try again this school year.
Bascom's principal, Jean Morningstar, needs to get more involved with her students and their needs. Students on the end of the scale (learning disabilites) and the opposite 'gifted children' are not being helped enough. My niece who is in first grade has not received any help with her reading disability after repeated visits and phone conversations with the teachers, principal, and guidance counselor. I have lost alot of respect for this school.
Great teachers and good education taught. Keep up the good work!
You really could not ask for a better school for your children to attend. We are so fortunate to have moved to the lebrae school district!
I love it as much as my 1st. grader. Thanks for striving for our kids.
Bascom is a great school with excellant teachers and staff, parents are always welcome to help out. Our ground breaking for the new school has happened and soon all our children will be in a brand new beautiful school.
