Beaver Local High School

As a former student who went on to one of the nation's top universities, I must say that Beaver Local didn't prepare me for college as much as I had thought it would. I quickly became overwhelmed with the amount of work needed and how easy we had it at BLHS. I believe there is only 2 AP classes available, and to students who are more gifted, that just isn't acceptable and will put them far behind their peers at the college level. The area that Beaver Local is in already dissuades some colleges from accepting us because it is known as an area where there are many 'factory' workers. We need to straighten up the academics in the BLSD.

Beaver Local School District is a quality district where kids are given every opportunity to learn and grow. The academic programs are outstanding and the district offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities as well. Many of the staff are very dedicated and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure students are successful. At the elementary levels, parents are encouraged to get involved and stay involved through graduation. The only downfall at BLSD is the state of the local economy. The District is in great need of new facilities and the voters continually vote 'no' for any new construction. Once the residents of the district get on board with the leadership and approve the needed levy, the sky will be the limit for Beaver Local.
