Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My children have gone to McCormick for 6 years and I have only wonderful things to say about this school. The teachers, support staff and administration really care about the children and giving them the best education possible. The facilities are top notch as well. We are moving out of state and are very sad to leave McCormick Elem.

Milford's latest levy (Nov. 08) has squeaked by so busing will be restored. Unfortunately, there won't be enough money to fund additional academic/extracurricular classes. The gifted program at McCormick has really suffered due to the lack of funding. It has gone from a pull-out program to nothing. In the past, McCormick has attracted smart kids so a normal class tended to be above average anyway. In recent year, due to funding issue, 'brain flight' is occurring with the smart kids leaving for other districts or private schools. The enrollment at McCormick has dropped from nearly 600 to just over 500 because of this.

Currently (Winter 2007), Milford is struggling to pass a levy. Even with this challenge, I am continually impressed with the 'above and beyond' effort of McCormick's community and staff. The key is communication. The teachers and staff are always available and use email routinely. My oldest has struggled with reader and I have been impressed with the ongoing help from teachers. As you can see, I would highly recommend this school. Why pay for a better education when it's already available courtesy of your tax dollars?

I am the parent of a KG student (05-06). There are 28 students and 3 adults (1 teacher, 1 aide and 1 special ed. aide for a specific child)in his class. He has had a wonderful year. Parent involvement is high with daily volunteer oportunities. There are many after-school programs including sports and the arts. The school building is bright and clean with new playground equipment, a lovely library and computer lab. However our levy didn't pass so the plan is to cut the library, computer lab and the KG aides. He has learned a lot this year but I wonder how much he would have learned without weekly sessions in the computer lab and trips to the library and the help of the KG aide in his room. McCormick has been wonderful so far, I hope it will remain so.
