This is my daughter's first year at MMS. She's had nothing but problems. The 5th graders are NOT separated from the rest of the school like we were told they would be at orientation. She is bullied by 7th and 8th graders on a near daily basis, not to mention other 5th graders. She's had milked thrown on her. A girl on her bus broke a window in anger and is still allowed to ride. I'm also less than impressed with their G/T program. The worst part of it all is, I don't even know who to complain to! Parents aren't welcomed into the school past the front desk. I have yet to get a person to answer a phone or return a call. Most of the teachers seem good and helpful, but they have no authority to address these issues. I'm currently enrolling her in Connections Academy so she can get a nonfootball oriented, nonbullied education that is actually focused on academics.

my daughter has been attending mms for two years...they have been so far the worst of her academic career. once when she questioned a principle about an incident and told him how her parents think about it he told her that he really doesnt care what her parents think. she raises her hand in class and gets called annoying. when I questioned that I was told that it was appropiate action because of her behavior. there are several other VERY questionable incidents we have experienced at mms. mms ratings are far below what is shown on this page. check it out

my son attends mms and he has been constantly bullyed and assualted throughout the year. the head principle (i won't say his name but if you have kids at mms you know who he is) does a very poor job at running mms. when i spoke to him about my son he stated that "that's not my priority right now"

I am a student at MMS and I only have good things to say about it. The staff works well together, there are numerous extra-curricular activities and the rules are inforced. I have been at MMS for four years and I think that it is the best school in the world. I will never forget the lessons I've learned, the friends I've made or the memories I've gained. I love MMS

I have 2 daughters that goes to MMS and they both love the school and the staff. The school has made progress since it open and you can see that in the scores of the OAT. All of Massillon schools had to adjust to the time changes of the school starting time. My children had to adjust riding the bus with the 7 & 8 graders riding their bus this year and it was rough the first couple of weeks but with the help of one caring principal and the guidance couselor my children got through it. Massillon is a community that supports the schools. Yes football plays apart but that is just minor part of what is going on here in Massillon. All of the schools did great on the OAT test and several schools move up the ladder.

because they have boosted corricullum and the teachers are not sread so thin that a child cant get the one on one they need, they have larger chior, and music programs so no child is left out , they provide a friendship basis all the way to the principle

This school was horrible. I was there since it opened and just left this past year. I had so much trouble with the principal staff, and I hated the way the class schedules were set up. Please avoid going to this school.

This school lacks leadership, communication with parents, and support for the teaching staff. The principal treats all the students like they are problem children and does not respond to parents. The library shelves are shockingly empty, to the point that a request was made to parents to donate books. The textbooks are out of date and must be shared, making it difficult for the parents who actually care to assist their children. If football is all anyone cares about, they are on the right track. The school funnels future players to the high school as well as musicians to play at halftime. Beyond that, there is very little positive going on.

i totally dislike this school!! i have a child in mms and 1 in whs and i think this is the worst school system around here!! mms doesn't even give out school books and they are only teaching to pass the ohio proficiency tests the kids are pushed to fast and are not learning what they need to and for math i can't even tell you in nice words what i think of that method . they should do the ' no kid left behind' method and maybe the kids coming out of massillon school systems wouldn't be so dumb

Administration is inept, block schedules make learning difficult, especially in math and science, limited extracurricular activities, school has lots of potential with no leadership.
