After speaking with other parents I found that I was not alone in my opinions. There is a kindergarten teacher there that should not be working with such little children. She expects too much from such a young group. My daughter has told that her teacher has told some of her classmates that she does not like their pictures. Which while may not be a horrible example but any parent knows what that phrase does to a child's spirit. I am considering transferring my daughter to another school after "Holiday" break.

My son didnt get off the school bus at his daycare the first week. I was told from another child he got off the bus and after searching the area I could not find him. I lost it. I called the school crying and the woman repeatedly interrupted me as i was trying to explain what was going on and after finally screamed at her to shut up and let me talk i was hung up on. I found the other child was mistaken, my son didnt hear his name called to get off the bus, but hanging up on a parent who doesnt know where their child is is insane. What if he had gotten off the bus and was alone somewhere? I went up to the school to apologize to the secretary for screaming at her, explain the situation, but also to tell her that is not how you handle the situation. I was instead met at the door by the principal who insulted me by saying the way I acted was uncalled for and at least my son was on the right bus. I never got to tell her exactly what happened because she did not let me speak. After this there was another incident where he WAS put on the wrong bus. Only 2 months into the year and I am considering transferring him. There is sooo much more but I am running out of space to put it!

Friendly, safe, warm and welcoming place for elementary aged children to learn and grow. Teachers and administrators are positive and encouraging. Parents are involved. Fun for all and within walking distance.

I am a mother of a 1st grader who attends Fort Miami. My son loves school and his teachers. In my experience there was excellent communication between the teacher and I. There also seems to be wonderful parent involvement.

I think Fort Miami is a great school so far. My son just started kindergarten and he loves it. His teacher is great. He comes home so excited to tell me about his day. The schools in Aimee also offer great programs if your child needs any kind of special care. (my son dosen't but I have a friend who's daughter does) She is very pleased with how well Aimee schools are. You can also look online and see how high the proficency test scores are. I am pleased with Fort Miami.

This school has been attended by myself my sister and now my son (currently). It is a top notch school. The leveled reading groups really keep each student working up to their own potential. Unfortunately, like most public schools, there is not many ways for students who are excelling in other areas to work up to their potential in these areas as well. The school has a pretty good music and art program. They even have a special 'Celebrate Art' program hosted by parents. They have participated in some really neat projects through that. This school is in a brand new building and it is very state of the art. Parents can get involved in the school's specific activities that they provide but not just--stop by and help out kind of involvement. Since this is an elementary school there aren' t many extracurriculars but there are some skating parties and such.
