WEA has been such a blessing for our family! I don't know what all the fuss is about in the postings below. I've been through private schools and public schools for my child and NEITHER of them compare to what WEA is doing for my child. I've been through discrimination from schools and daycares alike. The staff is very friendly and it seems they genuinely care. The kids are not unruly which offers a calm environment. WEA has made every effort to keep me involved in my child's education and what's going on at the school. This is a wonderful school that my child has blossomed at. He is excelling in all areas. My child gets the attention he needs and deserves, unlike "good" private schools of the area and TPS. I only wish there were more extracurriculars, but seeing as this is a charter school, and they don't get the 50% of property taxes that TPS throws down the drain, I understand.

When I enrolled my child in this school, I thought I was making a good decision. The staff was very polite and welcoming. However, that changed after the start of the school year. The staff is very rude. 75% of the time, they won't respond to a simple greeting such as hello. After reading some of the reviews, I'm sure they do talk about parents and their child. Maybe that explains the odd behavior. I've called numerous times asking to speak with someone regarding my child being placed in a lunch detention. I never received a warning about the number of tardy days my child had for the quarter and the consequences as the letter indicated I should have. No one ever contacted me about this matter after leaving several messages. I really don't have any complaints about her teacher other than her giving my child a dress code violation for no reason at all. Apparently, they can wear winter boots but have to change shoes inside the school. I sent an extra pair with her as I always do. I am so happy that I am making a better decision by taking her out of this school and placing her in a different one.

I have gone to this school for the past two years leading up to high school. The school has very low standards and does not test the students fairly to the best of their ability. Many kids are under estimated and picked on by the teachers, not just the students. I, as well as many, feel there is little done in a situation with bullying or a related factor. For younger students, this school is great. For middle school and high school, choose a different school.

I would like to say a few words to any potential new WEA family members. My son is in second grade and the first conference I had with his teacher this year brought tears to my eyes! As his teacher and I sat there going over the basics she pulled out his test scores. She began to tell me that he had scored so high on his tests that he was at a 5th grade reading level, 6th grade science level, and his math skills were at a 4th grade level. I began to cry happy tears! To have a child excel in school is a combined effort with school and home life. I have made the choice to put my son's education first and it has really made the world of a difference! When I made the choice to come to WIldwood Environmental Academy I was hoping it would be a good fit for our family, and now I know it was the right place to help my son become the best he can be!

My children have attended Wildwood for 6 years. We have had a wonderful experience with the entire staff here. I have one child with special needs, and Wildwood was the ONLY school that would help her. My other children excelled and grew academically and personally by attending here. The education our children receive is outstanding. The teachers and staff truly care about the kids, inside and outside of school. I have witnessed several opportunities that they serve their families beyond the classroom. I don't know the previous posts situation as it is my experience that parent issues have not been discussed in front of others. However, I feel that this school is the VERY BEST CHOICE for ANY child to attend. I am very concerned and protective of my children, and would not send them anywhere else. They are safe, educated, and cared for. The school leader and her administration work very hard for all the kids. And no, I am not her. I am just a regular parent who loves her children's school, and hate to see the extreme negative posted when it's just not that way around here. THANK YOU WILDWOOD FOR ALL YOU DO FOR ALL THE KIDS. Been here 6 years, and been extremely happy! :)

I agree with the post from yesterday. I was actually on this site looking at other schools in our area because it is time my family moves on from Wildwood and decided to look at the reviews for WEA since they came up doing my search. Many families have left Wildwood and the ones that are still there are not very happy. All of the extracurricular activities have been taken from the children, the PTO raises funds that are not spent on the students but pay for extras for teachers when budgets fall short and yes there is staff bad mouthing and talking about students and families. Go on a field trip or be around the school any length of time and you begin to see some real eye opening things. I know of one mom personally that has been EXTREMELY involved with the school who is now being treated horribly when she stopped being a door mat for the school and I feel horrible for the things I have seen and heard. There are alot of cliques at the school and if you do not happen to be in one of them then you are nobody. Its very sad because this used to be a good school. Maybe if staff and the administrators actually listened and cared they would understand why families are leaving.

Wildwood does make a great first impression however if you are actually around for any length of time and actually pay attention to what is going on around then you will be amazed at what you see and hear from the staff and other families. There is definately things that apparently the last parent has not seen, hopefully they never do. If they actually heard the convo that the teacher had about a little boy in her class that I heard while in a classroom for a party then they would understand what the other parents below are talking about. I also saw the rude way the vice principal handled a parent and then heard her tell a teacher (very sacastic)as she walked into the office "and this is the fun I get everyday, is it 3:15 yet!!". At the last PTO "family" event my husband was very upset after he over heard the PTO people talking about families there and wanted to leave. I still am not sure what he heard because he won't tell me (probably because I will confront that sort of thing). Take a look at the ratings. In the past 3 months there are 5 1 star ratings and everyone seems to be saying the same things. That should speak for itself.

We have been at Wildwood for 2 yrs & have been absolutely pleased. I cant help but brag about WEA & what makes them stand out above the rest: Literally because of the amazing team working with us, it has definitely boosted his self esteem & we continue to see him not only love school but love learning. Academic he is currently above average. They offer lots of hands on experiences..such as animal friendly classrooms, a recycling program, on on-site greenhouse, educational fieldtrips. We also love the fact that they offer Karate, a physical activity that also strengthens dicipline during school hours that my son otherwise would not have the opportunity to enroll in. My Favorite reason for loving WEA...I have never felt like my son was just a name on the roster...Thank you for giving us a safe, secure, family-like envirnment! Also a special shout out to the most friendly and amazing staff ever...you've personally made a difference in our lives specifically: Mrs Lewin, Mrs Brimmer, Toni, Mrs Katz,Mrs Wells, Mrs Rodebaugh, Mrs Weisenburger. Thank you and we look forward to many more years @ WEA!!! The Rhoads Family

staff seem understanding but when it comes to really paying close attention to things going on clueless. I would not recommend this school or any other charter school to anyone. they lack a year behind in academics , from public schools. your better off putting in for transfer to a dif school in your school district. do some more research. dont just jump on what you hear from people.

WEA has been such a wonderful school for my children. My 6th grader is advanced in all academic areas and has thrived at WEA. The staff continue to challange and encourage critical thinking and she is loving school. The new building has such an amazing computer lab and science lab. WEA is a great school.

2012 was the last year I had a child at this school, we pulled them all out after we realized my oldest child basically received NO education her entire 5th grade year. She frequently brought home work specifically labelled 4th grade, and when I brought it up to the teacher AND vice principle, I was reassured that 5th grade is basically just a review of 4th grade and that those two levels frequently overlap - not to worry. What a crock and I'm so upset that I believed it. Now that my daughter is in 7th grade, she is barely keeping up, and we are paying hundreds of dollars a month to have her privately tutored and caught up on the gaping holes in her education from WEA. She went there for a number of years and the areas she is lacking are specifically from those grades. We chose WEA to avoid the area public schools only to realize that we made a terrible choice. Save yourself a LOT of money down the road and your child some pain - make another choice. I can verify every piece of this review for those who may doubt it's truth.

WEA has been very willing to work with my son in making sure he is provided with an excellent learning environment. My son is intelligent, but does have a few LDs that cause him to be easily frustrated with the work presented to him. WEA has gone to great lengths to work with him, and us (his parents), by creating an IEP that allows him to be more productive in school and maintain excellent grades. The teachers at WEA care about their students and their success. Additionally, WEA has many wonderful hands-on learning opportunities, which I believe provides a more comprehensive learning environment. I also love that the school is environmentally conscious. A perfect fit for our family.

It made a positive impact on my daughters life. She hated school and almost failed until she came here. These kids and this school have proven day in and day out why they deserve these funds. Wildwood makes a difference where other schools have simply failed or refused.

I love what this school has done for my daughter. The community that comes together because of this school is amazing! The teachers and the administration work hard to provide the best they can for each child and actually welcome family involvement. Thank you WEA for providing a quality education where are students are able to enjoy learning.

My nieces go to this school and my sister raves about it. Every time I've picked them up or come to see them play a game, the staff has been super friendly and my nieces are always excited about the in-class pets.

My kids like the school.. but the school leadership is not all that.. the PTO is cliquey, the 'school' leadership is very biased and discrimatory towards most undesearable parents,,as for parent involvement they only allow certain parents do certain things. I feel they need new leadership.the school is full of drama and fakeness. I dont think i would recommend the school to anyone

Wildwood has a staff that's almost as awesome as its students. We strive to put an environmental emphasis into our curriculum. We have a strong recycling program, our own green house on site and animals in every classroom and then some. We also have a PTO that rocks and has an event every month.

My child is new to WEA and she absolutely loves it! I really threw a lof of questions at the principle before enrolling my daughter and she answered every question on the spot. I love the fact that it's a 'hands on school' with field trips that help them learn. The greenhouse is fabulous and the fact that they have animals and aquatic friends in almost every classroom is awesome! I am sure that my daughter will be challenged and she is already thriving here at WEA. I'm glad we made this choice...........it was the best way to go! Mrs. 'K'

Great curriculum, amazing staff! My son has responded unlike he has anywhere else. The classes are small, and I don't feel as though he's getting lost as just a number as he would at a public school.

Wildwood Environmental Academy is an excellent school filled with Teachers and Staff that genuinely care about all of the Students that attend. I was happy to find the PTO to be filled with friendly Parents and dedicated Teachers and Staff that work together to further enrich the Students' educational experience. With tons of educational field trips, an on-site greenhouse, and plenty of other fun ways of learning, I feel my child has blossomed at WEA and I look forward to his continued educational success at WEA. My son is in the 8th grade and just started Wildwood this year. Up until now, I would say my son did not particularly like school. He was made fun of for being in some special ed classes. At Wildwood, my son is not separated from the rest of the group and has found his place where he fits in. He is eager to get up in the morning and loves going to school (that says a great deal for a 14 year old). The staff has been very supportive of our needs and keeps us parents well informed. The school is small enough that nothing goes unnoticed. Thanks C.G.
