Buckeye Local schools are a hidden secret in a great community. Teachers that care about the students and their futures.
Buckeye is a wonderful district with a great teaching staff. Unfortunately a large part of the community refuses to support it's schools. Despite funding issues Buckeye continues to do GREAT things for their students.
My wife and I both graduated from Buckeye. We specifically came back to Buckeye so our kids could experience it. It has a small town atmosphere, yet big enough for your kids to experience many opportunities.
We have had two sons graduate from Buckeye with a well-rounded education. Unfortunately, the district suffers from uninformed voters who consistently vote against any levies. Many equate money problems with the building of the new elementary complex, which was funded from a bond issue. Staff is caring and experienced; would put them up against any other... Would have liked to see a broader curriculum such as offering other foreign languages and perhaps an orchestra along with the band program. The community needs culture.
I've lived in the Buckeye School District for the past 11 years and my child has been through elementary and junior high school. I'm extremely disappointed in how the school system manages money. These 'state of the art' schools they built when the money was not there to begin with and now they expect us to pay for it. That's extremely poor money management decision making and never was in the best interest of the students. Now they have cut back on the activities that keep our children out of trouble. School is not fun for them. The teachers don't care because they aren't getting pay raises. We won't pass a levy because the money has been poorly spent. Busing for these children even in high school should never be stopped because it is a major concern for our children's safety. That's why they will lose students, including mine.
I have been in Buckeye Local Schools for years now and I love it! The High School is a great school! The staff is wonderful and very willing to help you if ever you need anything. It is quite a good academic institution that is small so you don't feel like a pain in anyones back if you go to ask for help with something. The district is great though I do have to close by complaining about the elementary schools as they run them like a boot camp and have no caring for children at all.
I had two children graduate from Buckeye High School, one is now in her second year as student at a Private College in Ohio and has a 4.0, the other is at a State school in Ohio and has a 3.0, thanks to the teachers and staff from Buckeye High School.
Buckeye has mismanaged money for the 10 years I have lived here. When thin computer screens first came out, at very high prices, every secretary I saw had one, although the old monitors worked just fine. The new school construction was a farce. Had the former buildings been properly maintained, there were many years of service left in them (buildings in Europe are still going strong after *900* years) Sadly, the school district decided that they had to 'look' modern, built buildings that look more like a prison camp, and placed almost *all* of the district's students in very close proximity. In light of recent school violence, a foolish move. I finally tired of fighting with the school authorties over blatant violations of parental rights and put my children in a charter school, where my tax dollars are spent much more wisely. I will always vote NO for Buckeye levies.
Buckeye is a great school in a rural district, trying to keep up with the 'suburbanites' moving in. All schools are facing money troubles, and that can't all be blamed on poor money management. You can only stretch the dollar so far, especially when more and more children are moving into a district that those same parents will not vote for a levy. The teachers are very caring, but we can't expect to keep them around without passing levys. I'm very disheartened at the turn the school district has taken in the past few years, mainly because of people unwilling to pay a minimul amount for their children's education.
My children have been in Buckeye since 1st grade. This year my youngest will graduate. My public education was far superior. The counslor we got stuck with could careless. I feel guilt by not providing a better education for them. I could have sent them to a private school. Few months to go and after many years, we are finished with them. I will never vote for another levy again!
I am a parent of a Buckeye High School student (& grade school students) & think the school is a joke. The teaching may be excellent, but the price for book fees & to play sports is outrageous! Let alone, to be required to purchase all the supplies! They need someone who knows how to manage money to get the fees down! We never had to pay anything in the school we went to!
Buckeye high school has excellent teachers that care about there students. The principal is a very nice involved woman. Unfortunetly I am disappointed in the extracurricular activities. The FFA has been a part of the school since the very begininng of it and now they are cutting the program. I am very disappointed, and upset.
