Milford Junior High is struggling with funding issues. Many of the extracurricular activities - geography bee, spelling bee, etc. - have been cut because of the lack of funding. Main streamed special education students will do fine as the teachers are well aware of how to handle IEP issues. The dedicated special education teachers struggle a bit more. The overall academic level is not rigorous but does provide a solid foundation. The average student will be fine but a college prep student will find the curriculum lacking.

There is an excellent honors program at Milford Junior High. My son has flourished under the caring, yet challenging, teachers who teach the honors program. There is also a great program for those students who need extra help. I've worked with those teachers, as well, and found them deeply caring and motivated about helping their kids succeed. There's a good range of extracurricular - the usual basketball, baseball, etc. plus a tennis team, volleyball, show chorus, band, writing club, chess club, academic quiz teams, geography bee, spelling bee, summit team, cross country, track. The principal is new there and is a young, motivated professional that can enforce discipline as needed. I would definitely recommend Milford Junior High as one of the best junior highs around.

This is one of the best schools in Milford. They treat the kids really well and they care about how they are learning. The school resource teacher Mrs. Bell is the best there is.
