I believe with the termination of school founder and Executive director Marlene Jacob, Excel Academy has shifted it's mission in a manner which will not meet the standards and quality of educational services that it's districts, parents, and students have experienced over the last 15 years. The school is now being run by a governing board, which appears to operate under a business model rather than an educational service model. A split in staff and board expectations and standards has emerged.

My 8 yr old son has attended for a few months after public school failed him. Excel is a loving, caring and wonderfully structured school! The staff is top-notch and sooooo patient with these kids! From gym to studies to mental health assistance to field trips to special projects everything is in place to support and to nurture their best selves. Can't say enough good about Excel.

Community ratings and reviews do not represent the views of GreatSchools nor does GreatSchools check their accuracy or verify the reviewers' identities. Use your discretion when evaluating these reviews.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
