One of the best districts if not the best district in Ohio. Staff and administration is excellent. For a school of this size, it does a very good job trying to meet the needs of every student. There are an enormous amount of extracurriculars and clubs for you child to get involved in as well. It was rated one of the top 100 cities/schools in the country! Excellent or Excellent with distinction on their report card for the past 10 years. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants their child to get the best education available.

I have always been pleased with the NCMS system until Middle School. If your child isn't a cutout of the majority of students here they will be treated as different by their peers as well as the staff. I do not feel that the teachers or administration are in touch with the pressures or experiences of children @ the crossroads of puberty & are unsympathetic, except for the counselors ( Thank God for that ) The clicks, drama & bulling that goes on on the surface is not dealt with by the staff or even acknowledged as far as I have seen. I teach my children to be expressive individuals which has not been well received in the Middle school. It seems my child has been lumped in a group with the troubled kids based on style ALONE!

While the school has good academics & extracurriculars, they ony work well with "normal" children. My oldest son was diagnosed with bipolar disorder while attending the school & rather than work with him they tried to expel him twice (for things that weren't even expulsion-worthy). Thankfully the district superintendant overruled the principal. Really, I think the principal is the real problem as all the other staff seemed sympathetic to our issues. Thankfully he's retiring this year and I've only heard good things about the incoming principal. My younger son who is gifted and has no behavior/mental health issues has had no problem whatsoever at the school and really enjoys the gifted & advanced classes they offer. If you have a special-needs child you may want to look elsewhere, but if your child is normal or gifted it's a great school.

Great school for kids who can fit into the 'mold.' If your child has special needs, be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to communicate with the staff and getting what you want on your child's 504.

I am a current 8th grader at ncms and i feel this is the best school on the whole eastern side of the unsited states. The teachers are friendly, helpful, caring and willing to help you at everything. They have a great way of making a student feel special. The students are friendly and helpful. Everyone is willing to be friend! the best school is north canton middle school!

Most of the staff is reactive instead of proactive. They seem to be more worried about the test scores than the kids. Some teams are way better than the others, so do your homework. Kids with special needs might be better served in another district as their special ed program is terrible. The guidance department leaves a lot to be desired. No ESL services. Low kids fall through the cracks and discipline problems spend tons of time in the office once the state testing is over. Teachers don't seem to know what to do with kids that are a little rough around the edges. Sports rule the roost.

North Canton Middle school is a nice place to go to school. THe teachers are great, and so are all the programs. The 'teams' are also a great concept, creating a closer-knit environment in a large-school setting. As a former student of North Canton Middle School, i would reccomend NCMS to any parent looking for excellence in all areas of a school.
