The students are taught respect for each other and the natural world. Students work at their own pace, whether fast or slow. Students' sense of responsibility and leadership qualities are developed and nurtured. The student body is diverse. The parents are involved. The teachers are committed and talented. I could go on and on....

The academic programs are wonderful. There are a variety of afterschool enrichment programs. (Language, chess, yoga) Parents are very involved in their children's education & in providing them extra-curricular opportunities.

Portage Collaborative is overall a good Montessori School, but it is basically only as good as its teachers. Some of their teachers are outstanding, while others are not. Because it is a public school, I wonder whether they continue to allow these mediocre teachers to teach because they have no choice. Because the Montessori curriculum requires that your child stay with the same classroom for 3 years, this is a huge issue, in my opinion. Parental involvement is very good. Administration is good.

I am very satisfied with this PCMS. My son is in the pre-school/Kindergarden class and he couldn't be happier. We looked at other Montessorri school in the area and this was the best. The teachers and teachers assistants are top notch and the facilities are wonderful. My son loves going to school. He learns and at the same time enjoys himself. We couldn't ask for anything more for our sons education. We went to a school play put on by the older students and it was an amazing production. It is something that is done every year and I can't wait until our son is old enough to be part of it. I couldn't imagine ever having my son go to any other school. It's a public school with a private school feel to it. You won't be disappointed.
